I’ve been a member here for just over 2 years and something is really baffling me.
Now i’m not starting this topic to cause anyone to get irritated I just want to understand.
Why do some people in chatrooms have 2 totally different names logged in at the same time?
I know sometimes a name gets stuck so they will come back in with a modification of their chatname, that’s not what I mean.
Let me explain…… I have an instant ignore list, to stop any aggro toward myself and room disruption in general, I used to just use ignore, but now use “ignore by ip”, sometimes I will place a chatter on ignore and two names, totally different ones will go on ignore.
i’m not going to give examples because I don’t want people to think i’m “stirring”. but….. I have trouble sometimes keeping up in one name why on earth do people use two?

I suppose they could log out with one name so everyone in there thinks they have gone, then they will still be able to nosey at what is being said. Probably a few reasons for them doing it, including shyte stirring.

I have noticed that in the chatrooms. It does get really annoying to be fair as it does cause trouble and make people who they do it to like they are the bad person. I wont give names either as i dont want to think that im causing trouble. It does get really bad when it does happen but nothing is done about this. I think they do it to wind people up and get a reaction from the people they do it to. Its kinda sad they do it but i wish it does stop as it does put people who names they are doing it to like they are nasty and that/

I don’t think you will get an answer to this question because there is no definitive answer, those that do double log in will surely have different and various reasons for doing so. I’m also a bit puzzled that as an educated psychologist that you are you would think there is an answer, and seemingly not understand that there will be several answers, why you dont already have that answer you seek, if you dont have it I don’t see how any of us will have it for you, especially when there’s no answer there to be even had. I guess someone that actually does this can inform us why they do it, for our best answers.
Anyway, my attempt to answer is I assume a lot of perverty blokes use this as a tactic to double their odds of indulging themselves in perverty chat, and then there’s the slightly paranoid types that will talk to a chatter in 2 names to check the info matches, and their not being lied to, and so on.
Even stranger than the phenomena you raised, is, those that double or triple log in with different ip’s so as they cannot be caught out with the ignore by ip feature, thus making them even more undercover and potentially devious. Then to cap it off, talk to themselves in the room.

You could actually all be the same person, using different names on the boards.
You do know that that happens too, right?
As for the slightly paranoid people (as you call them), logging on with 2 different names to check if the info given to them is the same (not sure what sort of info you’re referring to tbh), well…..all I can say to them is good luck with it ( if they’re pming me), as I deliberately give different names, different info in pm, especially if they’re not names I recognise from the room

Clinical Psychologist , yes, but i’m a human being first, and doesn’t mean I have ALL the answers to life’s questions. to assume so would be a little Narc lol.
and yes I agree probably several answers, some of which you list. as stated in my question. I’m trying to understand it.
People in chatrooms are not to be taken seriously.
They’re only here to wind you up/seek attention to fill their empty lives.

Great thinly veiled reverse phycology….if you know who is double logged in simply ask them instead of putting it on the boards where the said members probably don’t even post….so all in all quite pointless
And Bloss…..why do you need to give them any information? Its easy to say….nope
If they want to play games, by double logging and asking for info, I shall gladly oblige in order to confuse them, when I’m in the mood

s one way of filling up a chat room l guess, with the one person talking to his/her many alter egos/personalities?
