There was a 10-year period (when Tony Blair was PM) that 4,000 new laws and regulations were introduced onto the statute books. That averages out to at least one new law per day.

Any law introduced by Labour compelling you to give evidence against your will isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on. My son was asked to give evidence against somebody in a court case. He refused and that was the end of it. He wasn’t fined or imprisoned.

As has already been pointed out, the law was not introduced by Labour.
Even if it had been introduced by Labour, unless the appropriate action had been taken to overturn the law then it would still be applicable.

I assume that either your son hadn’t made a witness statement (once you make a witness statement you can be called as a witness by either side) or there was sufficient evidence for the case to proceed without him, hence no action taken against him. His input simply wasn’t important enough to either side for them to press the issue.
