18 January, 2008 at 5:28 pm #304755oh i just remembered! a few years ago the council demolished a row of houses that seperated our estate from the one facing. making way for a new road…………to be used by fast flow traffic. forgetting in their wisdom that all our kids used this route to go to school. they kindly set up some traffic lights and a crossing area.you literally took ur life in ur hands every day dodging juggernauts. anyways the inevitable happened after many protests from us.and a 6yr old boy was knocked down and killed. we formed a commitee got petitions and local councillors on our side…..and then staged a protest. we walked slowly backwards and forwards across the carriageway waving our banners and causing a 5 mile tailback into town. the local tv station filmed us. then one irate lorry driver started gobbing off…….lets just say the end result was me getting arrested.   anyways we was on the telly an in the papers and a few weeks later they started constructing a bridge for pedestrians to use. moral……….never EVER argue with a group of mothers and their small children. [-X
