Jade Goody

I couldn’t begin to contemplate or understand how a mother could deal with the thought of dying and leaving her children.

Each to their own, however they deal with their situation. I could never condemn nor understand how they behave. Truly an individual decision and absolutely not one to be mocked nor misunderstood.

Jade Goody has never been my cup of tea but my heart goes out to her.
Hopefully, one thing to come out of this is more women will book appointments for smear tests.
Something I shall be doing in the next week

I have 2 girls, 24 and 31years old. when i see Jade struggling with life, making her decisions to ‘go public’ and now to be married on Saturday my heart goes out to her.

Here is a young girl (thats all she is) with little education, not many social skills, someone who has been crucified by the press and the public at times, and yet coming back time after time showing incredible strength to face the world.

I first took to this young lady when she appeared on big brother, people took the proverbial, she cried when she thought she had a verucca bringing the word ‘mingin’ to everday conversation, asking if east anglia was abroad……. and yet shes faced everyone , and been herself, no airs, no graces, just her.

This young lady has kept her children out of the limelight, and now, she continues to ‘go public’ in an effort to make enough money so her boys can have an education and have the chances she never did.

cervical cancer is a silent killer, it shows no symptoms, but a certain young lady has made a big noise about it and showed incredible strength , even tho, to some, its not recognised.

she has probably saved several women who would not have otherwise gone for cervical smears, she has given her sons the best start financially she could give, she has shown the world, she is not some simpering bimbo.

you dont have to like her, but equally you dont have to be damming about her, the hand life has dealt this young lady, and lots of others like her outweighs anything, anyone could do or say. :(

I assume that she gets all the coverage because she started out as an ordinary person, coming from nothing, then by a series of “right place right time” opportunities presented to her, she was thrust in the public eye and given lots of opportunity to make money that she never expected to make – and who can blame her for grabbing that chance with both hands. Like her or loathe her, she has always been just herself, and there seems to be a morbid fascination in watching her.

It’s really no different to all the coverage that Kylie Mynogue got when she was diagnosed with breast cancer – celebrity and illness sells papers, regardless of whether the celebrity in question wants the attention. Is that a good thing? Mixed feelings on that one, but when Kylie Mynogue was in the public eye the overwhelming response from the Breast Cancer Support Group that I work with was positive as they believed that any publicity that got women – particulary young women who don’t fall into the NHS screening target group – checking themselves was a good thing.

The sad fact is that people are more likely to get checked or check themselves when they see someone who is in the public eye (or a character in a soap) suffering an illness than they are as a result of any advertising campaign by the various health groups, be it cancer, heart disease, diabetes or any other debilitating illness. If all the publicity saves lives of others, then it’s worth it getting up some peoples’ noses for a while.

Personally I neither like or dislike her, I do not feel grief, faux or real, just a compassion to a fellow human being who is facing a painful end. Many who have survived cancer will look and think “that could easily have been me” and count their blessings, but it may also bring all the old emotions from our own experiences flooding back.

In spite of the Media constantly slating her for being “thick”; “stupid”; “uneducated” and so on ….. she has been bright enough to hire Max Clifford to represent her with the Media and to ensure that she stays in the full glare of publicity as long as possible.

Seems like a pretty clever thing to do eh? At least she will get loads of money out of it all so she can fulfil her ‘dream’ of having her children privately educated. apparently she has set up Trusts for them already to cover this in the event that she dies soon.
