……….. the one I used to press (on screen so its not really a button but an icon I spose) to refresh the screen. I dont really want to download another toolbar and not get what I want as I just got rid of about ten since my eldest now has his own computer upstairs (he had loads of rubbish ones).

Im running IE 7 (i think) Do you think that will be the problem?

Sharon …. right click on an empty area of the desktop …. from the pop out menu click on ”refresh”. The desktop will then refresh.

    Does this answer your query???

    Always a pleasure hun.

BTW if you are using ANY application (Word, Internet Explorer etc etc) and particularly if you have a number of windows open and you want to go straight to the desktop …. simply use Start + D and it will instantly minimise all open windows and display your desktop.
(This means press & hold the ”Start” key on your keyboard and at the same time press the letter ”D”once).

    Try it and see.

where is the start key on a keyboard

It’s on the bottom row, second one in from the left – that is to say immediatly next to the key marked ”Ctrl” which is the first key on the bottom left.

On some keyboards it just has a Windows logo and on others it has the logo AND the word ”start” on it.

It is a really useful, and underused, key as it can give you access to all sorts of keyboard shortcuts which can speed up your computer use.
