It is a basic principle of litigation that you don’t sue somebody unless you can be pretty certain that they have the means to pay if you win.

Suing for libel is notoriously difficult and any award is only made to compensate the Plaintiff for damage they have sustained as a result of the complained of words. so the start point is that you have to prove that your hitherto good reputation has been materially damaged and that as a result you have suffered quantifiable loss. not an easy Hill to climb.

A typical defence to an action for damages arising from a libel, is ”justification” (i.e. that the words complained of were true – or at least largely so). So, to win an action, you have to prove that the actual words used (or the meaning that any reasonable person would construe from them) were utterly untrue. Again sometimes not an easy hill to climb, particularly as there is often a grain of truth in an insult.

Finally, site owners seem to be, at present, not responsible for the content posted onto their site PROVIDED that it isn’t pre-moderated (i.e. checked out and approved by the site owner BEFORE being posted and viewable). The example given was the BBC.
