Shouldn’t have thought so Bas. After all whenever did a fanatic allow common sense, reason, or a sense of humanity to get in the way of their bigoted rantings???
And this really is the bottom line isn’t it? IF the terrorists and their fellow travellers do finally summon up the courage to directly attack Israel, you can bet your bum that the Israelis will not be considering ”proportionality” when they defend themselves.

Does that apply to all advocates for using nuclear weaponry or just the ones who speak a different language and are not members of JC ?
By an accident of birth I wasn’t born in a refugee camp, situated within the borders of what was once my parent’s home. If I had I really could see myself with the other children throwing stones at tanks too. Now if I’d been born on the other side, I sincerely hope that I’d be one of the many who are a lot more rational and far less xenophobic than some on here with their absurd ‘fairytale’ imaginings.

As you already knew, before posing the question, membership of JC specifically exempts one from any sanctions associated with the use of nuclear weapons.
However, and to be slightly less flippant – the circumstances of one’s birth (accidental or otherwise) should not and cannot be used as some sort of justification for bad behaviour (including throwing stones at tanks etc).
It’s as fatuous an argument as suggesting that if you are born in a deprived area this is somehow justification for being a criminal. Life is all about making choices – including bad ones.
BTW – did you really mean “xenophobia” i.e. an intense fear or dislike for people from other countries???
30 December, 2008 at 11:45 pm #388220Lets face it the West cares cause it’s a strategically placed Western friendly nation (best be we had the sensible idea of taking it from the Arabs and saying here you are)
2 January, 2009 at 9:28 pm #388221I’ve just been watching the news and the latest is that Israel might be planning a ground offensive in Gaza. The actions of Israel around the world arouse strong opinions……
Meanwhile, a small feature, later in the news, was a report on how the Sri Lankan army has made a major incursion into Tamil Tiger territory in the north of the island – hailed as a victory against terrorists. This is another case of a western ally using military might against disputed territory held by extremists.
3 January, 2009 at 12:38 pm #388222Yup i spotted that as well Bas. Quite ironic isn’t it?
So if the Israelis say they have had enough of being constantly bombarded by rockets and mortar fire (by Hamas terrorists) for month after month and finally decide to put a stop to it ….. they are branded ”wrong” by the largely left leaning Media.
Journalists flock to Gaza and are carefully shepherded by Hamas ”spokesmen” to areas where they can take pictures of women and children ‘suffering’ as a result of ”criminal” Israeli oppression.
Sadly, this conflict is nothing to do with territorial possession (or gain); its nothing to do with who is right or wrong; it is everything to do with who wins the propaganda war in the world’s Media.
To date, Hamas (and their Syrian / Lebanese paymasters and Iranian suppliers) have shown that they are pretty good at getting tear-jerking pictures published around the world to support their points.
BTW have you noticed that in all the TV footage of ‘victim’s’ bodies being paraded through the streets in Gaza (for the Media to photograph) the crowd always seems to consist of several hundred young men. Not a female in sight; not a grieving parent to be seen anywhere; only angry ‘fighters’ burning flags and screaming abuse…… for the benefit of the TV cameras of course.
3 January, 2009 at 3:05 pm #388223CIVILIANS make up about a quarter of the 400-plus people who have died in Israeli bombardments in the Gaza Strip, UN officials said yesterday as the Israel-Hamas war entered its second week.
“Our best estimate is that 25 per cent (of the fatalities] were civilians, of whom a not insignificant number were women and children,” said Maxwell Gaylard, the UN humanitarian co-ordinator for the West Bank and Gaza. He added that there were peopleADVERTISEMENTburied beneath rubble, so it would take some days before there was a more precise figure.Four Israelis have been killed by Hamas rocket attacks.
how you take seriously a man named Gay Lard i dont quite know like
3 January, 2009 at 6:39 pm #388224The current number being quoted today is 443 killed and 2050 injured. It was also said that in spite of this Hamas had kept on firing rockets and mortars into Israel and were now threatening to commence a campaign of suicide bombings.
So roughly 330 or so killed were actually Hamas terrorists – bet you won’t see too many of their funerals eh???
10 January, 2009 at 3:28 pm #388225i was reading a newspaper on the train the other day with pictures of several small dead children and their respective uncles father and a dozen or so other men, all wailing and shaking their fists in grief and anger. the picture was very sad to see. a person who was sat oposite me remarked that. these children, while a sickenning sight were better off this way, as there was a very real danger they would have a suicide vest strapped to them in 5 years time anyway. at first i was horrified at the statement, but after visiting the religionofpeace site, i realised just how right he is. whilst this war is evil and wrong on all fronts, it has to be said that the muslim fanatics are the main instigators as always in their holy jihad to kill kill kill the world. tired and sickened by the lot of it.
10 January, 2009 at 7:21 pm #388226Ah right over 700 dead 11 of them Israeli’s and muslims are the “butchers” are they ?
