Islam, A Native American Faith

I just read a surprising article that effectively says that there were muslims in America before there were Christians. Apparently, the first muslims settled in America in the 10th century A.D. and the religion was adopted by some of the natives. The name “Tallahassee” (among hundreds of others) is actually Islamic in origin and means Allah will deliver you. The full article can be read here:

So the next time an American starts complaining about muslims living in America, just tell him/her that the muslims were there first. It adds a whole new dimension to the “when in Rome” debate.
