I have what I ‘think’ is Insomnia, hower I cannot be sure. I honestly think that it’s more of a sleep cycle issue, but everyone I’ve ever told has assured me that it is in fact insomnia. (I have not seen a doctor about this though due to no insurance)
Basically I can only sleep during the day and not at night. This has been going on for years and it’s totally destroying my life. I’ve tried staying awake all day so I’ll be tired at night and while that does work, sometimes I’m too tired and cannot fall alseep anyway. Even if I do manage to get back on track it will only last a week or so and then gradually I start to stay up later and later untill I’m sleep during the day again. It doesn’t matter what time I go to bed, I don’t purposely stay up, I simply keep falling alseep later each night untill my sleep cycle is screwed up again.
If I’m tired, I can usually fall alseep within an hour or so, but the problem is not ever being tired at the right times!
For example, this morning I went to bed at 3am, could not fall alseep untill 7am, and slept untill 7pm. (i just woke up).
I wake up with headaches anytime I sleep so much like that, but it’s IMPOSSIBLE for anyone to wake me up. Usually I’ll get up after sleeping 9 hours, but sometimes I can go 12 hours and no one can wake me.
Like I said before, i have tried to stay up for 24 hours and go the bed at a regular time (like 10pm) and sometimes it works but it won’t last. Plus I feel like crap for the entire day I do that, like a walking zombie.
I feel like this is tearing my life apart. There are days when I have important things to do and they don’t get done because I’m sleeping. I’m very lucky that I work from home, or else I know I’d be jobless right now.
I just want to be able to sleep at night. Why is this so hard for me? And does this sound like insomnia to you guys, or something else?

Me personally, I have real trouble falling asleep. On a normal night it takes up to 2 – 21/2 hours, and I also have really vivid nitemares, have done since a child. But come the morning, I could sleep all day!
I promise myself every morning in bed that I will go to bed earlier so the hours it takes to fall asleep will be at least spent relaxing, but I never can. I have to come on the net, read a book, and just chill out a bit, because my days are so busy I regard the evenings as precious.
Anyway, it must be great for insomniacs now that the net is around, my friend I spoke of loves it, and they have met fellow sufferers to chat with.
