One third of horses die on racecourses, while the others are destroyed as a result of training injuries, or are killed because they are no longer commercially viable.
Since 1997, 27 horses have died during the three-day Grand National meet.
There has only been one year without fatalities.Four died last year, two during the National itself. Only 11 out of 40 starters managed to finish the deliberately punishing 30 jump, four and a half mile race.
41% of the public believe the Grand National is cruel to horses.
What do you think?
That means that the majority, 59%, don’t think that the Grand National is cruel to horses. I for one are part of the majority. Oh, btw. I love horse meat, it’s ever so yummy.

Why do you not defend your opinions?

you’re full of shi.t,. i’ve had pets with life threatening illnesses – vet certified – but given the proper medical and loving care they DESERVE they pull through, so FU.CK all of your talk of being cruel to be kind….its all about money, always has been, always will be…the same goes for greyhounds, no one gives a fu,ck about them once theyre too old to race WAN.KERS..any decent human being would care for their pets into their elderly lives, just as they would with their own family. People who dont make me SICK
i know pebbles i have a 16 year old dog that was sent home from the vets 2 years ago to die due to severe liver failure due to old age and lepto he was at the vets for 4 days on a drip was going down hill day after day eventually i said i want to take him home he doesnt like it here his will is going i want to take him home where he will be brighter 2 years on he is still with me and relatively healthy for an old boy but the day he cant do what he does now like play climb the stairs and is in pain is the day i will put him out of his misery for his sake despite the fact it will break my heart it is him that is important not my feelings.
I have never once baulked at how much the vet bill is when caring for any of my animals.
One of my old dogs was 17 when he died despite tablets from the vets trying to help his arthritis at abt age 12 i tried many things and spent alot of money eventually finding the bio flow collar which over night turned him back into the running happy playful dog he was until the day his legs gave up and i had to have him put to sleep and believe me when i say he meant as much to me as any member of my family, my father suffered during his last months in a way that was absolutely horrific and if i could have done the same for him i would have. so dont fecking preach to me that its to do with money you dont f uc king know me OK5 April, 2008 at 11:59 pm #3236666 April, 2008 at 12:01 am #323667you dont have a case.
