Did I mention I know anything about you? If you see a ? it means someone is asking you a question, not dictating your life. Please stop acting so dumb, thats the domain of Patricia.
Care to answer the Q now?
there wasnt a question mark. Now who’s dumb?
btw politics you do realise sword is only backing your corner because he has seen pat’s stance on the subject. His comments above prove this. You are just a pawn in his little game. Enjoy it.

at no point said “i enjoyed the sight of it” so dont put words on my fingers thank you
if you didnt enjoy it, why would you partake in it?? Foxes are killed in all manner of ways, you chose to take part in the “sport” of chasing and having the animal torn apart while you watched. What a sicko.
as i said you have no argument on the initial point of the thread so thats ended that 1

i thought i made myself quite clear, now answer the question.
6 April, 2008 at 2:33 pm #323715this is going round in circles again and again i enjoyed the riding i appreciated the purpose of it and understand that not all things necessary in life are pleasant, i dont go to tesco to buy my candles , crayons meat or whatever in the cosy comfort zone that i didnt see the animal killed to give me these things so all is well. its life it can be brutal, it happens, no point burying your head from seeing the whole picture though.
Ok tell me something if you saw a horse on the moor for example stood there with a leg splintered to bits in agony with absolutely no chance, and no help around except a gun in your hand, what would you do make the thing walk to the nearest shelter in agony try for weeks to help it letting it suffer to no avail or put the gun to its forehead and do what is right for it ?
Also 174 out of i dunno roughly 10,000 horses a year is not a high percentage, and in the case of this particular horse u are on about wether he was unfortunate or the vet didnt check him proerly from his previous injury the year before i dont know but that isnt the fault of the race but human error.
I am quite certain though that the roughly 1 and a half percent of horses killed from racing would rather take that risk than not be able to do what is natural to them.
Horses love the races they get excited they enjoy every moment of it a horse that doesnt want to race (which is very rare) is of no use to an owner or trainer, but you want to stop them doing what they enjoy for your own conscience. Does a dog like to play with a ball ? yes do we not play with a ball just incase they injure themselves or choke on the play item ? no as that would be far crueler than the small risk.6 April, 2008 at 5:12 pm #323716So horses might like to run and gallop occasionally, that’s not what is being brought into question here. What we are talking about is a 30 fence course, some of which are dangerously high and difficult to maneuver over, given that 40 other horses are crammed together attempting the same fence. Some of the horses pull up, probably in fear of what lies ahead. Those that do attempt the fences often fall, sometimes awkwardly and snap their necks on impact, or suffer other serious injuries. You cant tell me that they enjoy being put through this. Only a quarter of the horses that started the race actually finished it. These facts speak for themselves. Those that do make it over the final fence must be exhausted, but to force them to run faster they are whipped hard over and over again. It is totally unnecessary and barbaric. Still convinced that they enjoy it? because im not.
6 April, 2008 at 5:15 pm #323717Oh, pebbles. Get off your high horse
6 April, 2008 at 5:17 pm #323718I actually find the National highly offensive, I don’t watch it or bet on it. However that does not make it cruel. These horses are better looked after than humans. They can pull up, they don’t have to jump the fences, they aren’t forced into jumping. I also don’t believe that you can lump all animal abuses into people that agree with and want to see the National. If I watched the National would that make me unfit to look after an animal? I don’t think so. If I eat meat does that make me unfit to look after an animal? I don’t think so. Get some perspective on your argument pebbles and people may just respect your views, even if not agreeing.
