A lot of young people turned on to left-wing politics in the 70’s and 80’s as a kind of act of rebellion against the ‘square’ establishment. They were essentially more interested in shocking their parents /grandparents / teachers than the causes they espoused.

Now that wooly left PC is now part of the establichment, I detect a trend of young people turning to far right as an act of rebellion.

Muslim youths become radicals – radical islam is very right-wing in many of its beliefs.
Gun and drug gangs would be seen as a form of micro-fascism.
Happy slapping and recreational GBH among white chavs is also right-wing behaviour.
Neo-nazism is on th rise in Germany and some neo-nazi rock bands are semi-mainstream.

So are we entering a worrying phase of growing interest in a diverse range of groups on the ‘new far-right’?
