By far my favourite time of year, the crisp autumn days the crunchy leaves crackling underfoot the excitement on the kids faces as they find conkers, walnuts, beechnuts, acorns and a mulitude of different coloured leaves. Then we have the lead up to Christmas, the casting of the Nativities and planning of all the seasonal activiites. The atmosphere is always electric but exhausting, all worth it though as you choke back the tears as a 5 year old sings a solo about the baby Jesus being born and you watch the pride on the parents faces.
It’s also time for the dreaded parents evening. You can never be quite sure what responses you will get and as you usher the parents to the chairs with a fixed grin on your face your mind is racing full of the all the diplomatic expressions you have practised over and over again and you just hope to god they can’t see what is in that bubble floating above your head………….
Thomas was a tree last year in the Christmas play what will he be this year? – A log, his work’s gone downhill.
Jack loves coming to school – Thats because he’s my favourite.
Charlotte keeps wetting herself – Well I wouldnt go in those toilets either, they stink of stale pish.
I think Jemma will be a leader – Of course she will, she elbows all the other poor sods out of the way.
Finley is a free spirit isn’t he – Nope he’s got O.D.D (Objectional Defiency Disorder) can’t and won’t do as he’s bloody told.
We are so pleased with Ben’s progress – No sweat love, his books are always top of the pile when OFSTED come.
Holly loved the topic on Autumn – So why did she bring in a Felicity Wishes handbag for show and tell then.
Edward was upset he didnt get 10 out of 10 for his spellings – I only gave him 5 ffs so I can see where he gets it from.
I was rather hoping Melissa would get star of the week on Friday – Did you forget she threw up over my feet last Thursday.
Im over the moon my youngest is in your class this year – Yep and your other three gave me Champagne every Christmas and I’m a stickler for continuity.
You know this Grandparents ONLY tea party your having are we allowed to tag along – Say that again.

21 October, 2009 at 6:07 pm #419609It’s all very well you both mocking ones diploma’s but I have found there are many skills to be gained from doing One Day courses and the odd Night School. I am now able to arrange 3 Gerbera’s in a very Avant-garde manner in a milk carton, make an attractive rug out of old tea towels, apply a go faster stripe down the side of my car and perform regular maintenance on my water butt.
Not to mention their usefulness for covering damp patches on the bathroom wall! [-X
