MAX DSL
16th of May 2006Since the launch of MAX DSL we have become aware of a number of performance issues with the service and these have been taken up with BT. These issues are not f2s specific and are affecting most ISP’s offering the MAX service.
We have been working very closely with the MAX team at BT and we are able to provide you with the following update:
BRAS Profile
It was identified early on there were a number of customers who were having their BRAS profile set at 2Mbps despite their lines being able to achieve higher speeds. BT instigated a fix which reduced the number of lines affected; unfortunately they have now identified a separate issue where the BRAS profile is being set but then reverting back to customer’s pre-MAX profile. BT has assured us that they are hoping to have a fix in place by the end of May.Maximum Stable Rate (MSR) & Fault Threshold Rate (FTR)
BT have confirmed that they have identified an issue where the MSR & FTR rate were not being reported to f2s, which is why customers would have seen UNKNOWN in these sections in My Controls. This issue will not affect the performance of your line, the information is for reference.
BT is working to resolve this issue and will make sure the reports they provide f2s with, are up to date and have all the relevant information.
I have heard a number of customers have received these rates today, all records will continue to be updated, BT have committed to resolving this issue by the end of May.
We have raised a number of other MAX performance issues with BT and will continue to work with them until they are resolved.
I appreciate this may not be the news you were hoping/expecting, I will keep you posted on any further updates from BT.
