Just reading the papers today that its been reported Faye has been offered £100,000. by Trevor MacDonald show to tell about her ordeal whilest in captivity…
and the rest have also been offered deals…

Im on the fence has obvisoulsy they have suffered etc… but Im againest anyone cashing in for stories… I just think its all in bad taste, yes we should know some details but I find its like just cashing in while you can,
Maybe if she halfed the money to be split between herself and maybe say the famlies whom have lost their loved ones in he wars…

    whats everyone’s opin..??

Also related read on a thread elsewhere, about the fact that Faye was made to wear the ‘headscarf’ for her appearance on Iran Tv… well well… I think her human rights where crossed yet as said before nothing was picked up on it… rules for one and rules for another springs to mind…

I think they should be allowed to sell their stories. This government hates them.

Atleast the newspapers want to treat them as the heroes they really are.

Bloody right they should be allowed to sell there stories, After all it is not as if they are highly paid anyway is it. They should milk it for as much as they can, after the ordeal they have been through.

I mean you look at all the bimbo’s who get paid for kiss and tell stories, 30 grand for sleeping with someone pmsl.

I hope they get rich and become famous from it all.

    Good luck to them.

This is the compensation received by the victims of the July 7 bombings with some guidelines and “prices” on other compensation (for fingers, ears etc).

I find it nothing short of a national disgrace that these people can sell their stories to the highest bidder as if on ebay. And what we get is MoD guided (each of those who sold the stories has an MoD press officer at all interviews), government spun story which actually leads us no nearer the truth of what happened. Example?

Girl soldier (dont know her name, sorry)- I was stripped and feared I would be raped

Iranian story- captives were given new clean clothes

Fact- The captives were given new clean clothes
Fact- They would have taken their old clothes off to put new ones on

If they wanted to TELL their stories, then fine but to sell them within 3 days of being released says something about the society we live in- it also sends out the entirely wrong message to other nations.

Perhaps Im a cynical old bar steward

Interestingly Ive just read the MoD have suspended the story selling until a “review” takes place-

Yeah they have suspended it, god forsakes a serving member of the british forces might make some money for their trials and entripedations.

Plenty of ex-army have written books etc and “cashed in”…. is it any different?

I heard the money made would be pooled together and a percentage given to the benevolent fund. Thats a good thing in my eyes. Not that the army should need a benevolent fund cos the government should look after them

It would be an absolute disgrace if they arnt allowed to “sell” their stories.

The british government tried to make money forcing them to be captured in Iranian waters, wheres the fair play rule?

Each mod spokesperson who has condemned them selling has received money….. what a hypocritical stinker!!!

Go back to Iran, commie, and stop slagging off our soldiers who fight for the very freedoms you spit on!

Ofcourse they should be allowed to sell their story. It happened to them, it’s their right to. If it’ll help ease their pain and get compensation they otherwise wouldn’t, then, good for them! 8)

It’s better a brave soldier who survived being captured by evil soldiers getting paid for their story, rather than some accountant clerk who filled out an application form to go on some stupid reality TV show getting paid for their story – Is it not?

    Getting addled with age Tommy

Point out to me ONE single remark I made which slagged off the soldiers- I criticised the government for turning this into an auction (even though it was at the Navy’s suggestion, which I DIDNT mention)

I compared the materialistic society we live in to the individual decision to sell their story, RATHER than tell it, within 3 days of being released which was utterly insensitive to those families who had had relatives die in Iraq.

Of which Tommy, I havent heard one family who has had someone die support the decision to sell the stories- perhaps they are commies too and should “Go back to Iraq”

It is entirely and morally, politically, globally and militarily wrong (and thankfully the government have realised this) to allow these people to SELL their story as if in a cattle market. Telling their story is one thing, selling it is grossly insensitive to those who have died out there
