I was amazed to learn today that Sussex, (which borders London basically) is 70 percent undeveloped which seems astounding due to it’s close proximity to London. Also, it’s the most densely populated county with  forestry and woods in the whole of U.K covering 22 percent of the total area.

Know any interesting facts about your own or other counties?

Interesting that the Suffix chester is given to a place that was a prominent Roman fort or military camp.

Are states divided up into counties over there linda? I remember Bruce Springsteen on his awesome Born in the U.S.A album singing a track called Darlington County. Then there was Kenny Rogers with coward of the county.

    Misterq,

    Will try best to explain..

Just do not ask me how many stars in our flag. Ha ha ha. Lord that one never left me. Controversy for 2 weeks with many a laugh…

    Each State has major Cities.

Example. New York City has 5 Burroughs. Guess u consider the same…Queens, Bronx, Manhattan..etc..Long Island.

I live large City in Center. Called one County, many hamlets u would call. Or think once heard Susan Boyle say Clusters? Vilkages?…

But my town only has what called hamlet. Smaller towns attached to major Town. We have 5 attached with my Town…as you move up the State, more Country, Adirondack so forth, not large Cities, more spread out Country, divide different areas….by using County reference. Think this help government when funding each State. More money give, government sends back. This more complicated to explain.

But my place in Florida, town, has County to attached. Flagler Beach…

    Make sense
