Not even reading the old posts from the boards sends me to sleep.

    I must have severe insomnia.

apparently, all the advice given to count sheep, read the Guardian women’s page, watch BBC3 etc etc fails because the only thing an insomniac can think about – hour after revolving hour is..sleep.

Either your body is not tired and your mind isn’t. or your mind is tired but your body isn’t. Rectify -Go for a run! Or read the Preface to the Introduction to Hegel’s Phenomenology of Mind, and uread it until you understand it!

lay in bed, turn any external stimulation off, tele, radio, music and so on, lights off and start at your toes, one at a time just keep running through your head, “little toe you are feeling sleepy you are getting heavier you are falling asleep”, repeat that two or three times for each toe then ankle, shin, calf, knee and so on make your way up until u get to your eyes, basically you are in your mind talking your body into sleep a bit at a time, feel free to add any other sleep persuasive words into the mantra but use it for every part the same,if you actually get to your eyes and finally your brain i’ll be suprised, i never get that far when i remember to do it.

This works for me…………wotshisname, the hypnotist, says, close your eyes, imagine you are in an auditorium and the curtains are closed, the lights go out, and the then the curtains open, concentrate at the first thing that you see – I bet you fall asleep!
