But the whole point is that because of the embarrassment we feel now for the past and what European countries perpetrated all those many years ago, and lets face it, it wasn’t always so far afield, we may have gone too far the other way in being apologists.
It is accepted that some of the things that were done should never have happened, but in some ways the days of Empire are still being paid for. When do we move on, and stop having to apologise for this country’s past behaviour?

well you failed to put in EX PM John Howard didnt you,
Im all for this stance on Imergraents.(mind i canny spell). im not normally vocal on it politics etc, but my passion is for Australia, and Yes I will be moving over there to live with my family, As sadly im in disgust with whats happening over here, and If I do get the chance to be Australian Id gladly leave my British passport here…
there is alot of race tenstion over in Australia the people are very vocal and do have more of a voice, at the end of the day NO-ONE FORCED them to mirgrate there… or here…?? and as Ive been brought up to think that britain is a Christain Country.. which speaks English as its first lang, which anyone wishing to live here under our Laws and traditions, and standard of living, should also be able to have English their first lang also, and not have the need for ‘ Our tax paying ‘ money to be spent on Interperpretors.. ( that aint spell rite ie someelse else explaing in their lang in our English..! )
anyway ROTT i wasnt diggin or nowt, John Howard im glad is not PM over there as thats why i not living there already, he was clammpin down on whom and where you where coming from…
and he doesnt like ex-pats lolinfact a True Australian is an Aborginee to me, their culture and dreamtime… amazin..!!
18 March, 2008 at 7:25 pm #317654My point was that we should be able to tell people to leave if they don’t like it, to stand up for the British way of life, but the fact that we don’t is probably because we are stuck in the mind set of having to apologise for the past.
Enough is enough…our government should stop living in the past.
