Quite a bit of emphasis on the hand grip in this years edition…Tach or what ever it’s called……

Seems to me that after many years of watching The Strongest Man…….shorter weight lifters definitely seem to have an advantage in general. If i am not mistaken, bit of a joke this year when the winner is a short guy and he’s 6 foot….although he claims he’s 5 foot ten?

Seems to me weight lifting is focused less on weights and more on height.

Geoff Capes was a great competitor…..see that guy throw the caber or log throw..a lot of it is lifting now…which is neither good or bad…..in fact as i recall..a dead lift is the most accurate assessment of one’s strength….apparently…one ought to be able to dead-lift at least one’s own body weight in weights.

Can’t say as I’m to familiar with power lifting which you mention i dedicate my time to cardio based training as well as weight lifting & core training….. for me it’s about how fit i am….. Geoff Capes was a legend in his own right but the truth of it is that him & up to 90% of gym goers are just there to build & bulk!!….. which is cool but stick anyone of them on a treadmill or a cross trainer & they don’t last 2 minuets  :yahoo:
