OK I may have assumed that they are illegal immigrants; they may just be immigrants supplementing the vast amount of money that they are given by the Irish Government.

As far as your comment regarding the ` vast amount of money `….i think that it may be possible to give a total figure on expenditure but, to break it down to what those PEOPLE in the street recieve personally, i dont think it is possible to the lay-person. Far better we allow the money from the coffers to be stolen and pocketed by the very people who stand in our name for truth, justice, protection and peace ? The very people who have brought this country to it knees and, some of who still recieve disturbing amounts of OUR cash by way of expenses and bonuses…. :!: Unfortunatley, these very same people are largely beyond reproach, unlike the people of the street, open to abuse, blatent predjudice, rascism and many other forms of harrassment from the public at large. Largely here-say and nonsense put about by the warped mentality of the very few.

QM – very intersting post of yours. “Backtrack” is the word that springs to mind.
The title of the thread is your own yet now you refer to “immigrants” not illegal immigrants anymore thereby making this post of yours more acceptable.
I admit there are people in this great land of ours that take the pish benefit wise, but our welfare system is there to help those that cannot help themselves for whatever reason – it maybe for a short while or for the long term or for life.
BUT – it is there and it’s what makes this country a great place to live – rather be a caring society than a “dog eat dog” and the “I’m alright Jack, fook you” society that you seem to crave.
Then having said that, I’m sure you agree with Thatcher when she said “there is no such thing as society”
And therin lies the root cause of the problem in this country – no society = no caring attitude.
I hope you never fall on hard times.
