ChatHost UK, Thank you very much for your very generous sponsor. I did not want to aim too high at first in case I fell far short of my target. I don’t like to ask for money but in this case it’s for a great cause. Sorry if i am naming and shaming you tho..
20 January, 2011 at 9:57 pm #459754Having worked for a charity, I can assure you that a processing fee of 6% of donations is quite cost-effective. Just the savings in admin costs of processing the gift aid for lots of separate donations and the publicity machine behind JustGiving that many small charities can’t afford would be enough to justify that 6%. Add to that the money raised by people who will take on sponsored challenges that wouldn’t have done previously because of the faff of collecting the money, and then…well I could go on and on about the benefits which far outweigh the 6% fee but I think any reasonable person would see the benefits.

To be quite frank, I think it is wonderful that peeps from here have given money :D

GuideHT.20 January, 2011 at 10:00 pm #459756I cant see why its a problem that she listed the people who donated……maybe shes so over whelmed that ppl in a chat room actually donated wen they only knw her in the cyber world? I think its nice that she did and it dusnt mean ppl who have not donated are any less of a person everybody has different circumstances in life and thats part of life dusnt mean any of us are better than the other…… we all have qualities that others dont av including myself ;)
20 January, 2011 at 10:18 pm #459757Blimey just caught up on this thread
I would like to apologise for putting anyone off donating because my name was shown in full. I don’t know how it happened, I signed off Kenty, for obviousl reasons!
In the grand scheme of things it’s no big deal is it? There are billions of people in this world and I’m just a teeeny weeeny dot.
The fame hasn’t changed me one bit :lol:21 January, 2011 at 12:52 am #459758And well done HT , i didnt say that but you have done great keep it up xx
21 January, 2011 at 1:02 am #459759Unfortunately I’ve had to step in and clean up this thread.
There’s no need for personal attacks or arguments here. If you are able to sponsor HT, great. If you aren’t (or don’t want to) that’s fine, too. If you simply want to wish HT good luck, please do.
At the end of the day, the walk is for a good cause and should be seen as such. Further bickering will no longer be tolerated on this thread. Keep your negative opinions to yourself, please.
21 January, 2011 at 4:35 pm #459760Yeah, I agree, I wasn’t meaning to be negative at all, far from it, but, I just simply can’t spare the cash.
You will make it, I have told you in the lobby what to do, however stupid it sounds. It was genuine, as you know, I think anyway! Even Quench gave you a tip lol and he is right about the vaseline hehehehe – dunno how to type that in without peeps taking it the wrong way, but ALL THE BEST xxx
Having done 4 x 40 mile walks along a tow path for charity (ie not flat concrete), I do know what I am talking about.
Two pairs of socks, that blue comp thingy blister stuff from boots, but it ain’t boots home-brand if ya get my drift (as soon as you feel a tightness, bung one of the patches on and when you get home, have a bath, but do NOT take the patches off, leave them till they fall off), water, comfortable trainers you have worn a few times before, leggings, if it is warm, a hat, don’t stop unless you have to cos of muscle seizure, dextrose tablets, and I think that is about it, oh, and if ya hands start to swell up keep them upwards (take your rings off before you go – I had to have one cut off!).
Soz for lecturing you, just trying to help anyway I can :) mwa mwa xxx

21 January, 2011 at 6:05 pm #459762Ok update I think while I’m here …
Have now exceeded my second target. Thank you sooo much I am over the moon,
still struggling to believe I have raised so much in so little time.
I have upped my target figure again, because every penny I can raise is going to a fantastic cause and one I fully support. There’s still plenty of time before my walk to still donate, to anybody who feels they would like to sponsor me. The people in JustChat are warm, generous, and so giving in these times of uncertaincy. Also thank you to everybody who is behind me and wishing me well
your comments mean alot. :lol:Lastly without naming names I would like to thank, Alias, Toegallows :? , ChatHostUK, Mellow, grr not searing :? , Taffyfish, SusieQ, si the dj, and lastly but not least Joker.
Much appreciated,
