not really looking forward to it this year as my family will be missing two important people :(
If I was able to fly I would probably gofor some winter sunshine somewhere, however as I can’t no doubt I’ll be skulking about with my siblings at my parents

7 September, 2009 at 5:15 pm #411563Well I will probably volunteer to work some of the day as the kids will be with their dad.
Love the run up to the big day & can’t wait to put the tree up. Same tradition every year. Always the Saturday before 25th & the kids “help” decorate it & we listen to the Christmas CD.
Then ….. when they have gone to bed I open a bottle of wine, strip the tree & decorate it again properly! :- *such a snob about my tree* :oops:7 September, 2009 at 5:21 pm #411564omg i thought it was only me that did that! i have to so control myself when the kids (13yr old clumsy boy and 21 year old madam) are decorating it, its so hard for me to let them do it lol
7 September, 2009 at 5:21 pm #411565I also love Christmas and for the first time for many years will be spending it with my family. I will be spending Christmas in St Petersburg and I am really looking forward to it. Here at home the house will be decoratied and especially the Christmas Tree which sits in thre front garden of the house .
Whatever peoples problems or thoughts on Christmas you should always let the house celebrate Christmas for the people that come after you .
7 September, 2009 at 5:36 pm #411566Dont get me wrong i used to love xmas but it’s stuffed so far down ya throat by the end of October lately i’m fed up (so whats new) before i get there. I dont want to see xmas pud on the shelves in Sept or adverts on telly and TV companies used to make an effort they simply dont bother now. It enrages me
7 September, 2009 at 5:40 pm #411567I agree with your Pete. It so commericialised these days, people forget what Christmas is all about.

The problem is Pete, retailers get their christmas deliveries in late August early September. Stock sitting in the stock room is not going to sell. If its been delivered then we have to put it out basically, even if we didn’t want to put it out there probably wouldn’t be enough space for all the stock in the stock room. The minute stock goes out it starts to sell. However I do agree its brought to the forefront too early, once upon a time it was tradition to wait for halloween to be over before getting out christmas stock.
