24 August, 2008 at 7:55 pm #366038My daughter and my nieces and nephews. My sisters and brothers for making my childhood such fun. My Dad for being the kindest most honorable man in the world, my Mum for being interested in everything and imparting the same lust for knowledge in all of us. My friends for being there for me through thick and thin, loving me for who I am and not because they are obliged to by birth.
I love being able to recognise kindred spirits, and to cherish their rare existence.
I love the fact I never know what tomorrow will bring. Life is one long adventure, and not a second of it should be wasted.

Which^reminds me..I love Cath
ditto that
I love steak and chips and onions and sweetcorn and peppercorns and ketchup. Sometimes on the same plate too.
I love the smell of new-fallen rain, after a summer shower has alighted on freshly-cut grass without any dog excrement in it. I love getting PM’s from people I haven’t previously bribed. Although I love bribing people as well, and can grease a palm more spectacularly than the sleaziest entrepreneur in the Casbah. I loved the way my aunts and uncles used to turn up on Boxing Day with the gifts my parents couldn’t afford, and now enjoy explaining basic Marxist-Leninist theory to them.
I love it when winter falls early, and the snow lays deep and I laugh at the northerners laughing at us, while birds in reverberating flocks haunt the sudden onset of whiteness; and after when bright plenteous berries hang in clusters in the air, and seeing dark icy pools in the fountain, whereupon a small and sanguine sun floats mirrored.
I love spinning pebbles across the water like any fool would, but also the dark thundery nights with the wind-shaken chimney and when the room electrifies ahead of the inevitable rumble.
But most of all, I love the small unseen kindnesses that people do, for which they neither expect nor receive reward, and on which this planet turns.
