Ok, so when did those particular kind of dolls get linked with the Klu Klux Klan? That little bit of history escaped me.
The doll is just that, a doll that was popular 100 years ago. It is the way people more recently abbreviated the name of it that has become offensive and an insult.
And… yes please, lashings of ginger beer to go with my rosey cheeks.

I got a bizarre tale !!! My grandson was given a last minute gift last xmas, well more given to his mum with the story of ” a toy every child needs”. it went under the xmas tree,and to be honest was fairly innocuous and anonymous. my daughter opened it and it was a golliwog.. ! WE BOTH KINDA GASPED! as we assumed they were barred too.
this came from the other granny, who i admit is a wee bit of a W.a.s.p… and sin ce then we have noticed certain comments of a racist leaning !
the golliwog accidentally ended up in my bin.
he far prefers play dough and art materials :)scary !
