I just saw a wonderful speech on c-span of some human rights activists. It was a good event. Everyone who spoke, spoke with such conviction. I noticed a statement concerning the 14th amendment being included in our constitution during the civil war and that this was when the first definition of our citizenship for the United States of America was articulated. So does that mean that the unalienable human rights as stated in the Declaration of Independence was what we called law before the civil war? Some conservatives that I have conversed with have displayed an outright abhorrence of me thinking that asserting my individual human rights is a meaningless gesture. Their argument is that they say that it is meaningless in a court of law. What exactly do they (said conservatives) mean by that?

I don’t understand what you are asking – why are you thinking of asserting your human rights? – are you an illegal? Or are you asking why the christian conservatives are calling for an end to it?

And why am I replying to this lol

They probably mean that the Human Rights referred to are conferred by the constitution of the United States of America an apply to American citizens.

You, as a citizen of the UK and apparently resident in Brighton, would be unable to exercise an American citizen’s rights in a UK court of law.

I apologise if this point is too obvious.
