In Brighton we have a very cheap and fast local bus service. You can travel all day for £3.20 anywhere in Brighton area.
Has I am trying to save the planet and parking is a pain in the ass, I do take the bus to our office about 630am each day.
There always a young girl at the bus stop, she in school uniform and can be older than 10 years old. She always on her own and looks very cold.
I can’t understand what’s she doing there at that time, after all schools starts at 9am.
Today 2 women police officers saw her and after a short chat, called for police car to take her to the police station.
I could not hear why.
So maybe some one with kids can tell me why a school kid would be taking the bus so early and why the police got involved

Maybe she has to travel a long way to school, but if she is only 10 years old, maybe the police think it’s un-acceptable to travel at that time of the morning by herself.
Kids in my area, a lot of them anyway, travel to senior school by bus, 11 to 16 yr olds, not at that time of the morning though, who knows?
22 November, 2006 at 5:24 pm #250494I have kids DOA but i still have no idea wh the girl was alone on a bus that time of day. Not all parents allow their kids to be so independant. I will drive my kids to uni if they go
22 November, 2006 at 5:32 pm #250495It’s obvious isn’t it DOA? At that age she is probably quite small (compared to say a teenager) …. just the right height to fit inside a chimney.
She probably works for a local plumbing company where she is used as child labour to go up chimney flues and sweep them clean. I expect that they pay her a pittance to do this before going on to school – the plumber’s equivalent of a paper round.
I don’t know, the depths some employers will sink to …. Hmmmmm.
22 November, 2006 at 8:34 pm #250496Maybe her parents are idle ba*tards who are too lazy or p*ssed up from the night before to be bothered to take the poor little mite themselves.
Maybe being at the bus stop at 6:30 in the morning is better for her than being at home, you never know.22 November, 2006 at 9:03 pm #250497if she did pb, she would be making more money than you !!!!
22 November, 2006 at 10:16 pm #250498That’s very true DOA – got any jobs going, cleaning lavatories??? I think I’m qualified.
22 November, 2006 at 11:21 pm #250499your over-qualified pb, you can read and write in English. If you can lean Polish we may have a job for you…..

He’s got more chance of “leaning Polish” than you’ve got of learning English! :P
23 November, 2006 at 2:02 am #250501I can’t answer that as I was not there, maybe you should ring the police and ask them.
