a london hairdresser who turned a muslim woman down for a job has been told she will be bankrupted to pay compensation to the muslim woman.
the hairdresser refused the muslim a job because part of her job would entail modelling new hairstyles, and also she would be expected to cut mens hair as part of her job. the muslim woman.[who has never had a job] is accusing the hairdresser of racism because she wasnt offered the job. the compensation claim has been doubled by the muslim womans solicitor because she has recieved hate mail from customers of the hairdresser. the hairdresser says she has no idea who sent the mail and doesnt condone it. however this will come of little help, as she is looking at a suit for 41 thousand pounds. the hairdresser has not got his money and will be bankrupted to pay this extortioner..
how many jobs CAN a muslim woman do ?
none that entail being in contact with males.ie nursing, home care etc
none that entail selling alcohol.
none that entail working with males ascolleagues
none that entail removing their veils.
none that entail working with non halal food.
none that entail selling religious books or materials other than thr quoran.
now i dont know about you but im willing to bet that if i took a list to the job centre demanding all of the above, and i was recieving benefit. i would have my benefit stopped immediateley. but it seems its ok for muslims to make all of these demands and STILL get benefits.
just another case of one law for them and a dozen for us the indigenous non muslims.  :evil:23 January, 2008 at 5:06 pm #305847@waspish wrote:

Did the jobcentre send the muslim woman for this particular job, was she prepared to do all and any of the tasks that the job entailed, (i doubt it) is she in receipt of benefit.
I just wonder how it’s gotten to this stage of the owner being possibly made bankrupt having to pay out thousands to this woman.
Surely if the muslim woman has never even had a job, then she doesn’t have the qualifications to be a hairdresser and I would have thought that this would be grounds enough to not employ her. I don’t think a customer would be too happy to have his/her hair cut by someone not qualified to do so, I know I wouldn’t. So I don’t really understand how she could have gotten to the point of possibly being out of business and bankrupt.

Is this case actually been to court and been proven or is it still a “claim”
In other words- is it fact or is it “maybe if she wins”?
tens of thousands of “claims” happen each year, half of which are simply scammers after money, very few win- has this happened and the hairdresser is bankrupt or is a case of she will be IF the case is proven

as far as i know its still at claim stage, but the hairdresser has been told that when it gets to court she can expect to lose both her livelyhood and her home as she will be bankrupted. the muslim woman doubled her demand because of the letters she recieved. i know little or nothing about this type of law, so i cant tell you much apart from what ihas been on the news lateley and on the sky discussion boards. the thing that bugs me is that these claims are getting more and more frequent. why ? have these slime balls found a loophole or something,? how can they get away with demanding time and time again, and always getting away with what adds up to extortion. i for one wouldnt let a muslim through the door if i had a business or a shop. and i would use the excuse that im a gay devil worshipper if i had to. i think anyone who is hiring anyone ought to be made aware, that if you get an aplication from a muslim your in real danger of losing your business and your home. the poor hairdreser said today that she has worked for thirteen years to build her business up, only to have it all stopped by this muslim bi*ch. and i wouldnt be suprised if shes got legal aid to pay for it all either. please find out all you can and let me know by all means. im sooooo livid.

I can understand you being pi/ssed off if it had happened but this woman, jus like thousands of others, has made a claim- speculation on what might or might not happen is pointless- you can have an opinion but having one on something that hasnt happen seems a waste of blood pressure
I would bet a months salary that this woman does NOT win her case and all that has happened is lots of people have got very wound up over nothing
It would be inteesting to post after the case and see what the judge says as it could be a good test case
23 January, 2008 at 10:13 pm #305852Perhaps I should apply for a job as a queen’s chaplin and sue because I’m an atheist republican!
23 January, 2008 at 10:31 pm #305853“how many jobs can you turn down because your not a muslim ?”
Is that like asking how many lazy good for nothing white Brits, that find the internet more important than a job, does it takes to change a light bulb? I’m waiting for the punch line.

These cases are 10 a penny, no need for any test case here. Unfair dismissal and Employment Discrimination are tried and tested. Each case is dealt with on its own merits. Its her agains the employer. The best presented case will win.
24 January, 2008 at 8:00 am #305855Being the sad git I am, I’ve done some googling to find out about this case
This has been going on since November 2006! It first came into the media in November 07- the salon owner has had her salon for 18 months
And the discrimination case is SOLELY against the fact that she was refused the job because she wore a headscarf- there is NOTHING in any reports I’ve read, or from the salon itself, to say she refused to cut men’s hair-
The argument is customers need to see stylists hair to know its an “urban, funky shop” (in the salon owners words)- this prospective employee had also been turned down 25 times before this one
So the argument is simple, in law- does wearing a headscarf as a hairdresser impact on your ability to do the job OR on your ability to demonstrate new fashions?
So ladies (I’m a £5 a razor cut at the barbers so I dont know!)- would you still use your local salon if a hairdresser had alopecea (where your hair falls out), or if your male stylist had all his hair cut off? Or wore a baseball cap? Or was bald or had little hair? So whats the difference?
AND a lot of female hairdressers are MALE- how can they sport a female hair style
IF she was cr/ap at interview, the employer should have simply said…you’re crap at interview, end of story
Using the headscarf as a reason not to give someone a job, when it can be proved that other reasons for not demonstrating a hairstyle are acceptable, seems very silly
