Please share your credit-crunching tips.
I’ve joined the growing army of people that travel at 60mph on motorways and A roads
Visit the Supermarket at about 7pm to pick up reduced items
Discipline yourself not to pop into an expensive cafe, find a cheap cafe and sit on a public bench (even Greggs charge c.£1.10 for a coffee so any suggestions, can you stomach McCoffee?)
Use a watering can & the garden when you want to do a no.1 (men only probably)
Wash your clothes in the bath (not so easy if other people’s clothes are involved)
Work overtime.

Oh..and a bargain-bucket tin of Lidl prunes to authenticate a fortnight’s worth of copious diarrhoea.
I’ve also got the holiday romance sorted out..with a crotch bulging, swarthy Spaniard (aka our Postman with a dose of jaundice and a trussed hernia that scares off the dog.)
And don’t worry about that council tax demand, it’s just a cunningly disguised postcard from Esmeralda.
Wish you were here? :P18 July, 2008 at 10:32 am #35512214 Years ago a large retail chain employed a section of the company I worked for to make cost savings (project) They did the following simple things;
When a ceiling light has four lamps in it they removed two
Taps that could not be left running were fitted (you know bash the top and they turn themselves off)
Heating and air conditioning systems had their upper and lower thermostats + & – 2%
(It was a little cooler in winter and a little warmer in summer)De-hums (Duhumidifiers to us) well they turned one if four of them off completely so all the freezers on the shop floor just spewed moisture into the atmosphere
You could probably now go with new generation solar panels and use them to heat a tank of hot water, Very quick pay-back = one or two yearsChange all your tungsten lamps to LED’s (However the making of an LED is by no means green or carbon freindly)
Fit a water meter to your water supply and re-fill your toilet cistern with rain water (simple modification but effective)
Have better more efficient glazing and insulation fitted at home, In sweden there are houses that lose virtually zero heat, Why cant that technology be readily available here!
We perhaps need to think about design as an alternative to retrospective savings
Other than that eat cold food because then you do not have to pay to heat it up!
18 July, 2008 at 10:33 am #355123The best way to save money is to lose the car and walk more.
You can always save on hot water bills by only using what you need and not having store hot water like a cycliner in your airing cubbord.
The best way to save on water bills for single people or people without kids is a water meter.
If you do have kids and a water meter, drop me a line and I will “fix it” for you for £20 !!!!!!
Other ways of saving money on household bills is moan like hell at your engy companys and say the meters are f u c k e d.
It will take them 6 months to look at it and they always find something wrong with them, so you always get something back.
Always pay cash for anything and ask for a discount.
Don’t use criedit cards.
When you are shopping always look at the prices, never buy meat from a supper maket, they are ripping you off. Find a meat market and buy in bulk. A 200 kg cow only sells for £50, so why Asda are asking for £3 per kg for beef is unbleaveable.
Always shop around and stalk a few “doleys” see where they shop.
Remmber if its for you, you can aford……… if its for the wife and kids you can’t !!!!!

You asked your neighbour’s husband to share a bath with you? I’m not surprised he took it the wrong way! 8-[
