Hi everybody! :) From Russia with love! :P
I want to find in the net some information about such large roadside complexes in UK, with all kinds of service. I mean when you travel around Britain by car or by bus, you`ve got to stop somewhere to have some rest or a snack or even to sleep the night.
What do you call such places where a hotel, a restaurant, a free parking, some shops and may be some other stuff are combined together? :?:9 February, 2009 at 1:23 pm #391182We just call them ‘Services’.
I hope this helps :)

9 February, 2009 at 7:36 pm #391184Motorway Service Stations with usually some franchised hotel on the site.
You can get anything there; the use of lemon-scented toilet facilities, shiny ak47’s, Hello Magazine, a small car-freshener, the rights to a Siberian lithium mine, some over-priced dvd’s, freebase crack, soft and cuddly bears, a desperate prostitute needing to make her tragic way to Abergavanny, and institutionalised coffee which you drink tepidly as other vacant-eyed souls pass by your table on their brief break from the traffic-coned road to anywhere.
But not alcohol though. The selling of alcohol is not permitted at such establishments.
10 February, 2009 at 1:10 am #391185…. oh and if you need to use a public lavatory on your travels, they are all helpfully signposted on our Motorways.
Just follow any sign that says “Birmingham”, “Manchester” or “Newcastle”.
10 February, 2009 at 3:10 am #391186google ” travelodge” cheap and cheerful hotels with resturants and shops nearby.
10 February, 2009 at 3:15 am #391187the guy asked an honest question.. travel lodges are the best. a room for 40 a night and thats for 4 people. book in advance for a good deal.they are either Inner city or in the middle of citys with complexes like macdonalds/kfc and cinemas and ice rinks etc.
im a bit of a traveller and id hate to think i was met with this response, if i asked an honest question.10 February, 2009 at 8:29 am #391188Many thanks to everybody for your replies!
Actually I wanted to find some pictures showing what such complexes look like inside and outside. Managed to find in Internet just sites of cheap hotels or B&Bs :(
Even “motorway services stations” didn`t help in the search.
Thats why Im asking about some “special” word for such complexes.10 February, 2009 at 10:57 am #391189Is this any good Lenochka? You can see what a standard room looks like and there are other details there too. Hope this is of some help to you. :)
