Hi everybody! :) From Russia with love! :P
I want to find in the net some information about such large roadside complexes in UK, with all kinds of service. I mean when you travel around Britain by car or by bus, you`ve got to stop somewhere to have some rest or a snack or even to sleep the night.
What do you call such places where a hotel, a restaurant, a free parking, some shops and may be some other stuff are combined together? :?:

    We just call them ‘Services’.

    I hope this helps :)

Motorway Service Stations with usually some franchised hotel on the site.

You can get anything there; the use of lemon-scented toilet facilities, shiny ak47’s, Hello Magazine, a small car-freshener, the rights to a Siberian lithium mine, some over-priced dvd’s, freebase crack, soft and cuddly bears, a desperate prostitute needing to make her tragic way to Abergavanny, and institutionalised coffee which you drink tepidly as other vacant-eyed souls pass by your table on their brief break from the traffic-coned road to anywhere.

But not alcohol though. The selling of alcohol is not permitted at such establishments.

…. oh and if you need to use a public lavatory on your travels, they are all helpfully signposted on our Motorways.

Just follow any sign that says “Birmingham”, “Manchester” or “Newcastle”.

the guy asked an honest question.. travel lodges are the best. a room for 40 a night and thats for 4 people. book in advance for a good deal.they are either Inner city or in the middle of citys with complexes like macdonalds/kfc and cinemas and ice rinks etc.
im a bit of a traveller and id hate to think i was met with this response, if i asked an honest question.

Many thanks to everybody for your replies!
Actually I wanted to find some pictures showing what such complexes look like inside and outside. Managed to find in Internet just sites of cheap hotels or B&Bs :(
Even “motorway services stations” didn`t help in the search.
Thats why Im asking about some “special” word for such complexes.

    Bat

Is this any good Lenochka? You can see what a standard room looks like and there are other details there too. Hope this is of some help to you. :)
