I had more respect for him after hearing him talk after leaving. Him and Brian were placed together purely because the production staff knew they would make good tv.
They edited a lot out of the full conversation tonight.
God it will be boring from now on, but Im sure his DVD sales will rocket, my other half is going to buy one tomorrow!
11 September, 2007 at 10:23 pm #286632Yes I think you have hit the nail on the head Sharon. Jim’s stage act has been pretty constant over the years – he takes the mickey out of poofs. His after dinner speeches are pretty much the same.
Putting him into the same environment as Brian was bound to provoke some sort of conflict.
I remember that a couple of days ago Brian started the whole thing off by accusing Jim of being ‘homophobic’ and every time that Jim tried to get a word in edgeways, Brian kept on and on getting more and more dramatic and self pitying. no matter what Jim said, Brian refused to accept it and was constantly playing for the sympathy vote from the two slappers.
I agree that now Jim has been sacrificed on the altar of political correctness, the show will lose a lot of its interest for me.
11 September, 2007 at 10:31 pm #286633had this same conversation with somone tonight, (well did’nt know who she was but she was alright) she was slagging of jim, and i stuck up for jim, then she said i was homophobic too, i said i was’nt a shirt lifter :) and she said .. then i said.. then we got drunk, then well can’t remember the rest
11 September, 2007 at 10:33 pm #286634Ive not been watching this show, but have to say Jim’s alright, i met him some years ago while he was entertaining british forces. So what if he is homophobic, out spoken, and says what everyone is thinking but dont want to say, good old cameron
11 September, 2007 at 10:39 pm #286635The word homophobic is wrong isnt it? To me it implies someone is “scared” of a homo.
But that is not what it is supposed to mean is it?
(Ive not heard the word homo in years lol)
11 September, 2007 at 11:03 pm #286636gay does mean “as good as you” as much as you dress is up… which is a compliment to a gay person, as it is saying that have the same rights as a straight person and are not different, brian just got his pink knickers in a twist
11 September, 2007 at 11:14 pm #286637Yep Brian did “big it up”. On watching it again there was no need for him to make such a fuss about it all. I dont think the shirtlifting comment is offensive really. I suppose it depends in what context it is being used.
11 September, 2007 at 11:21 pm #286638would you lift my shirt up shaz?
11 September, 2007 at 11:24 pm #28663912 September, 2007 at 8:45 am #286640Can anybody tell me what Brian has done to earn his ”celebrity” status – I’ve never heard of him before his Hell’s Kitchen appearance.
He came across to me as one who has some serious issues with what passes for his sexuality … in terms of his strong feelings of persecution.
Maybe he should simply go back to sucking blokes off in public toilets and leave it at that.
