the point is
a club like hearts who are central to the community
shouldn’t have as their manager a convicted paedophille
someone who is on the sex offenders register12 November, 2005 at 2:00 pm #167647@Ow£n Ka$h wrote:

Perhaps Daggers way may not be to everyones taste but to me the point is anyone convicted of sexual abuse of children should never, ever be put in a position that may bring him into contact with children on a day to day basis again.
I am relatively liberal in many things but child abusers I would happily hang from the highest tree.
FFS!!! The girl was fifteen! Hardly a child and certainly not a molester!
Daggers post reads like a headline from the Sun and I’m surprised you’re
being sucked in!Owe- from my perspective the age is irrelevant- a 15year old is as much a child as a 10 year old. They may act older, seem mature etc but they are still underage and still a child.
As adults we have a responsibility for a childs welfare. If a 15 year old was stark naked saying “I want it now”- it is my responsibility to act like an adult and not use the situation to my “advantage”- I am the adult, the “grown up”. Abusing a 15 year old is no different than abusing a 10 year or 5 year old. It is an abuse of trust and an abuse of the power an adult has over a child.
And for a football club to employ someone who is registered as a sex offender is not appropriate. The club has a role to play within the community it resides and I think they have made a wrong call here.
As a I said, I do try to have a liberal outlook on life and see someone elses view as it always help to formulate my own view but I feel child abuse is treated as a minor misdemeanor rather than the serious crime it is. Should someone be “tarred” for life for one mistake- when it comes to child abuse, for me the answer is yes.
12 November, 2005 at 3:08 pm #167648A 15 yr old two weeks before her 16th birthday is not as much a child as a 10 yr old.
Ok the 15 yr olds still underage and what Rix did was wrong and against the law, but if Graham Rix had had sex with a 10 yr old he’d have been hounded out of the country, and probably lnyched.
Whereas as it stands he’s had 3 managerial jobs since he left prison.12 November, 2005 at 3:08 pm #167649peoples apathy towards child abuse is almost tantamount to an approval
i view that apathy, to that point, makes them an accessory to the act
there is nothing more beautiful than a happy child12 November, 2005 at 3:14 pm #167650@Bad Manners wrote:

a 16yr old experimenting in sex with people of his or her own age group is the most natural thing
a 40 yr old plying a girl with whatever he feels will get him his ultimate goal ,
is predatory, malicious, manipulation12 November, 2005 at 3:20 pm #167651Have a look at my post again Dagger. I wasnt defending him in any way shape or form. I think what I said was valid though.

someone who is on the sex offenders registerI don’t have enough information to form an opinion. However, the powers
that be at Hearts FC see things differently from you. It took a lot of courage
to employ Graham Rix. And a lot more deliberation went into it than did in
your initial inflammatory post! -
