That is probably the best way to be. Im not preeching at anybody, Im just wrestling with my concience and concerned about the animals lives prior to them becoming meat.

Thing is though, I live in an area surrounded by fields etc so from a young age it was quite a normal thing to see the cattle truck taking them away to be slaughtered. Used to walk past it on my way to school in the mornings.

But I don’t see what’s to be achieved by these sort of programmes, what is it actually going to do in reality? Might make folk more aware but again, what does that achieve? It’s still the same meat still being bought and eaten by the same folk.

Yes but Im concerned why there is a market for an unweaned animal.

I also think we have become so detached from the killing to the end product. I for one want to know my chicken has not had its backside sat in it own shit for its short life.

Plus this thing with young animals…. maybe its a girly maternal thing but they are cute and I want to mother them not eat them!

I’d hope they’d wipe its erse before sticking it on the shelf

    Sorry, couldn’t resist!

Anyway, I’m off now. Got to work tomorrow (or to be more truthful, I’ve got to go to work – it’s not always the same thing)

If anybody really wants to watch it for educational purposes the omibus episode is on at 10.30 tonight.

And at the moment Jamie O is doing a chicken program on C4 now.

To be honest I think I am all animal outed for one week. Ive had a fair old battle with my own concience and am a meat eater (I knew that to start with, and really did not think that would change).

But I will be changing what type of meat and also what processed foods I buy.

It really does not cost that much more to be more concious about it, providing you make the most of the meat you have. Im going to be making more stocks from my roast wastes and cooking up risotto’s and stews, casseroles and pasta dishes from it (I did already do this but will put more of the dead meat in the stock than I used to).

Even Hellmans have pledged to ensure that all their products will not come from eggs from factory farms by February this year. I hope other businesses follow suit and cut out this factory farmed shi/te that we have been basically forced to eat for years.

I wont be eating any baby animals either….. I cant get those poor lil lambs out of my head, never mind their mothers still in milk wondering where their babies have gone.

I tell you what for a 1st world country we have nowt to be proud of when it comes to our eating habits.
