Gordon brown made a statement today after the horrific murder of a young lad from liverpoo, he said the perpetraters would be hunted down and punished… what think tou lot eh ?
will the murderer be locked away for time eternal
or will he [or her] get a caution and 100 hours community service.
will the parents of this poor young kid ever get the answers they need
will the police actually get it to court or will the pps block it for lack of evidence23 August, 2007 at 2:27 pm #284383Bring all our troups home and put them on active duty here, cos I really think this is going to lead to so much unrest.
I was just watching the news and I could not stop the tears rolling down my cheeks. My youngest is nearly the same age and loves his football, the comparison is too shocking.
This country isgetting scarier by the minute, and the police do too little too late every time.
Banning guns would at least be a bloody start, but they never will.
24 August, 2007 at 12:46 am #284384Well guns are banned arent they?
i didnt know it was legal to have them? :?
as for bringing troops home? no need to we have plenty here already, we have troops in kosovo iraq cyrpus germany all over the world and still plenty here incase we need them!
i dont think the forces are going to be needed for this to be honest, noone wants to fight about it, i was at the vigil and no one wants anymore fighting they want it to stop so riots and civil unrest are unlikely, around the area the tragedy happened anyway
24 August, 2007 at 9:52 am #284385there’s no quick fix solution to what you guys have written about. our society has slowing been turning sicker and sicker by the day, no-one knows quite why, or what can be done about it.
we all want a decent society where people respect each other, and take an interest in their fellow citizens, but not much evidence of that in modern Britain today. maybe we have too much, have too many expectations about what we should have, maybe deep down we’re all seriously unhappy and unsatisfied with our lot in life but just don’t realise it, and it manifests itself in all these crazy ways. but respect should start at home, and with so many broken down families these days, if the papers are to be believed, is it a wonder the next generation are going off the rails!
when I was a youngster, the worst we did to each other was throw a punch, now it’s escalated all the way to cold-blooded murder. a sea change in society, indeed!

I know people who have guns, for their shooting sports (on of them is a manic depressive) totally legal to own them.
24 August, 2007 at 4:57 pm #284387guns and knives are banned but ive not even seen a copper on foot here in the last 5 years so what are the chances of anyone being arested. you let your car run out of tax and the riot squad is kicking your door in 7 days later threatening fines prison a criminal record etc, as they do with tv lisence dodgers. but be a burglar car thief mugger or dealer and your home free.
7 months ago i emailed my local force with names adresses times descriptions and car numbers of 4 drug dealers that operate in our village. were still waiting for an arrest. im not holding my breath either. yet there was 3 police cars in the village guarding the actors etc when they did an episode of hemmeroid farm here in our village. and thats the score they will play rent a cop for security, but they dont give a toss unless theyre being paid overtime…
whatever happened to the police being public servants.
oh yes thats it they moved into the farmhouse with the polititions didnt they ???26 August, 2007 at 11:09 am #284388The matter of banning guns and knives isn’t the issue here. It is illegal to possess or carry in a public place either a gun or a knife. (BTW LICENCED firearms are not involved in any of these shootings).
The central issue is NOT the weakness of the law ….. it is the utter weakness in enforcing it.
New laws are not required. Longer prison sentences won’t achieve anything. Catching the criminals and applying CURRENT law and prison sentences ARE what is required.
All the while that Police tacitly allow ‘no go areas’ and do not actively police the streets, then this sort of crime will continue.
27 August, 2007 at 12:53 am #284389well they are barred here Forever,,! After Thomas Hamilton took shooters and killed primary ONES,,5 year olds ffs..

alba gu braith !
27 August, 2007 at 10:33 am #284391Of course, and as every damn fule knows, banning shotguns held for sporting purposes or by farmers, and banning all forms of target weapons held by sports clubs is clearly going to prevent gun crime on the streets.
As we all know, legally held firearms have to be licensed; have to be stored in a high security locked steel cabinet bolted to a structural wall; the ammunition has to be stored in a totally separate and locked high security steel cabinet; and is subject to regular checks by Police.
It is perfectly obvious that banning this type of firearm will absolutely prevent street gangs from obtaining and using an assortment of handguns, often smuggled in from abroad. In fact the evidence for the total success of this far-reaching policy is the absolute lack of gun crime on our streets.
Thank God for politicians who only have our well-being at heart and care nothing for themselves or for personal publicity.
