Why do Cadbury want to sell

My understanding is that Cadbury the company doesn’t want to sell, however they were subject to 2 hostile takeover bids, 1 from Hershey, 1 from Kraft. Hershey have dropped out but Kraft are still pursuing the bid and it has reached the stage that the offer has increased to a level where Cadbury have to put the bid to their shareholders, indeed they have to recommend it as on paper it is a good offer. It is still technically possible for the shareholders to reject the bid but given that there are sufficient US shareholders to give Kraft a majority, plus the short-term investors who will be looking to make money on their investment quickly, it seems that is unlikely to happen.

What’s interesting is that there is hardly anyone who sees the deal as a good move, whether from Cadbury’s perspective or Krafts’ perspective – in fact Warren Buffet, one of the world’s richest men and the largest stakeholder in Krafts, has condemned it as a bad move and said that if he could vote he’d vote against it. So the question is, given the increase in debt that will be incurred by Kraft to make this purchase, why are they so set on taking over Cadbury?

Will 50 somthing sounds about right…we have to stick to recommended retail prices otherwise retailers don’t make a profit therefore we don’t earn enough to live the life of Riley, and Mr Kent wouldn’t be ablte to afford to buy me diamonds and very expensive handbags :lol

Thank god for kenty, she asks the questions I won’t for fear as being thought blonde.

Little Willy gets chocolate confiscated from his lunch box on a daily basis. If he gets heart disease, type 2 diabetes, dental cavities, obesity, it isnt his parents fault, its my fault, because we get blamed for everything!!

By the way Ann Summers does a gorgeous chocolate willy, very reasonably priced! lol

How can we lower prices without being able to buy wholesale lower? Most CTN’s have a profit margin inbetween 18-22%. It would be impossible to sell a choccie 15p less than recommended, unless we are able to buy cheaper ourselves. It also pee’s me off how many people complain about shop prices but will quite happily buy at petrol stations paying way way over the RRP’s on most items and probably 50p plus on ciggie RRP’s.

PIMBLETTS PIES ARE A LOCAL PIE SHOP WHERE I LIVE.. THEY DID HAVE SEVERAL SHOPS AND ARE QUITE FAMOUS IN SUM AREAS OF THE NORTH WEST, THEY WENT OUT OF BUISNESS DISPITE BEIN WORTH MILLIONS COS EVEN THO THERE PIES WERE FAB THEY WERE QUITE EXPENSIVE.

IT STANDS TO REASON TO LOWER UR PRICES.. U WILL SELL MORE. THEN MAYBE NOT GET PUT OUT OF BUISNESS. WOOLWORTH WAS ANOTHER ONE WHO WERE FCKIN EXPENSIV TOO.

I WANNA SEE CHOCCY AT £35P A BAR LIKE IT USED TO BE… EVEN CRISPS ARE EXPENSIV THESE DAYS ESPECIALLY ONE LIKE WALKERS..

FCKIN HELL MY CAPS KEY IS STUCK… FGS L.OL

Yeah right will. You think by shouting at us all we’ll take any notice ?

You know why manufacturers charge 50 odd p for bars of choccie? Well it’s coz we will pay it.
Walkers crisps are far better quality than any other regular bag. Spuds have got expensive too.
You think choccie has gone up? Well I remember when Polo’s were 3p a packet. That’s called inflation.
