The world cup performances passed a good enough judgement. He is overrated as a player..
Hence his position at Stamford Bridge every two weeks!
We’ve a new manager with a new line up. Give it time. :wink:He is still overrated as a player..As an overall football player…Anyone should be able to see it..A few Sweden players also said the same thing..He’s too slow on the ball..Not a very good passer of the ball..He is known for scoring..But if you look at Paul Scholes, then look at him..He hasn’t got sh1t on Paul Scholes, or other midfielders for that matter..If you cut out his scoring ability..Then he wouldn’t actually have much ability as a football player.

I agree..Hargreaves is playing some great football, and I also think Crouch deserves his place in the first eleven at the moment….I am really desperate to see Bent play on Wednesday too lol

lampard was very poor again, can’t even keep the ball against poor opps… downing is alright, but i prefer cole out on the wing or even richardson, england play better with attacking wingers
so go for that approach i say
I agree…I think Lampard should have been dropped ages ago..He is another overrated player who will shoot at every opportunity, but can’t do much else. I prefer Richardson to Downing..He is such a boring player…I love how you think he’s going to run at a player, then you realise he has no pace or flair to actually go by an opponant..So he’ll stop, stand there, go backwards, then pass back, or he’ll stand in one place, and just cross lol..He’s a good crosser, and in my opinion, that’s all he is good at.
Typical Robbo – not a bloody clue about football – stick to watching the foerign shyte mate
Anyone who says that Gerrard should move back to centre midfield is totally misguided – he performs far better on the right
I do agree with lampard though – totally over-rated
Downing is an excellent player and he gives the right balance to the team – or left balance if you like
Richardson does nothing for me – don’t rate him at all3 September, 2006 at 5:49 pm #239971@robbo wrote:

That surpasses even some of your previous no brain comments you Numpty !!!!!
The whole idea of the game is to score goals – preferably more than the opposition – unless you watch foreign shyte of course in which case its to dive at every opportunity , fiegn injury and try and get the opposition sent off
Dearie me – let me see – take away the scoring ability of the following and what have we left ?? ;-
Denis Law Malcolm Macdonald Alan Shearer Roy of the rovers Brian Clough Kevin Phillips !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!3 September, 2006 at 8:10 pm #239972@drivel wrote:

And they are all strikers, dumb nut..Lampard is a midfielder, therefore he has to offer more to his game than just scoring..If you cut it out, like I have said, then he is a nothing player…If you read the rest of my post, you would understand that, yet your idiotic ways of trying to attack me, fail again..You know alot about football, do you? Well, you totally had me fooled, dude.
A midfielder needs to offer alot more than just shooting at every opportunity..Look how he day dreams on the ball…His extremely slow movement, his poor judgement…The only other thing that is good about him, is his positioning..The box to box stuff..If you put him in a team like Charlton, then you would see what I mean, as to his overrated status that plenty of people have labelled him.
Take time to read the rest of my post, instead of trying ways to attack me, because you are not getting very far, and you are making yourself look extremely stupid.

Hurts me to say it, being a Chelsea supporter, but Lampers needs to go back to the Bridge and concentrate on re-finding the blinding form he has shown in the past two seasons. He’s quite simply a white elephant in the England side and needs to be dropped for his own good. Downing looks a very average player to me. I’m still ashamed with myself and all those England critics against Hargreaves, who is blossoming into something very special. I, personally, will happily eat my controversial words against the guy. Wes Brown for me is very average as well and now with Woodgate back in England perhaps he’ll get a few games under his belt and a chance at selection.
My present ‘dream midfield’ would be…
Joe Cole left, Stevie G and Hargreaves in the middle and Lennon on the right.
apart from the fact that im not a chelsea supporter i agree with EVERYTHING geoff has said there!
il add my own view obviously thoughgerrard was good on the right he really was, BUT!…..
when lennon came on, everytime he got the ball on the right i had that feeling that somethng would happen
i eat my words about crouch too! i went to the poland match at old trafford last year! and i booed along with everyone as he came on!
i take it back!
defoe well done to him, but he will only be a 3rd choice striker in the england team while crouch is scoring for fun and as soon as rooney is back
joe cole always on the left for me! downing maybe left footed but he doesnt have that extra something! i wont go bad mouthing him for mclaren sticking with him as look what appened with hargreaves when sven kept sticking by him!
i dont like richardsons style of play either to be honest he seems far too laid back no aggresion on him!

Not a clue about football? I have proved some pretty decent points against your fairly average criticism of my posts..But hey, I don’t blame your average posts, but I do find it hilarious how you continue to negatively reply to my posts, to try and prove a point that you have a better understanding of football because you have lived longer  ..Yet you haven’t proved much at all. I didn’t see you reply to Geoff when he also thought the midfield should look like what I just put, neither. But no, you have a point to prove with me, don’t you?. I am not going to get in a long debate with you as it will turn out to be a disaster like the last one..Have a good day, Drivel
4 September, 2006 at 8:08 am #239975Okay I shall reply to Geoffs post too .
You have all got it wrong about Hargreaves – he’s a bit of a work horse – does the donkey work okay – but put him up against a world class midfielder he’ll be taken apart – you can’t count the last 2 matches against poor opposition
I still think Gerrard is better out wide – he needs more room – when the middle of the park is congested he’s not as effective – as he like to run at people
Lennon is still learning – although he could be a great player one day – it’s all head down and charge for the line
Most premership left backs have him sussed – he’s not half as effective for SpursOur problem is we don’t have a great midfielder in England – someone to put his foot on the ball in the middle of the park – Platini style – or to a lesser effect Hoddle style
