Well I’m not giving up my Hairspray for anything!
That’s OK, they don’t use CFCs as propellants in aerosols any more, they were banned in (I think) 1987. But the effect on the ozone layer and the consquent global warming was predicted to continue for up to 50 years after the ban.
I have just wondered, thinking about the reduction in global average temperature last year – it coincides with a significant reduction in the number of airline flights. Could this mean that aviation has an even greater role in global warming than we thought?
As I said in my original post, I don’t think it’s been conclusively proved that the warming is a result of human activity, it’s just that we know the things we do could be causing it.

So they say – and particularly from cows and sheep around the world. But how does that compare with the amount of methane produced in untamed nature – from the sea, from rotting vegetation, from wildlife?
If Britain reverted to its natural state most of it would be oak or beech woodland. There would be a vast carpet of rotting leaves in all these forests, not to mention big forest fires from time to time . Wouldn’t all that produce lots of methane (or CO2 in the case of forest fires)?
60% of the worlds methane production is man made (landfill etc) and global warming will thaw the permafrost which will release vast quantities of methane into the air
its a con.. simple as. the world has been warming and freezing for millenia and will continue to do so. gordon and his muppet cabinet have already come up with over twenty new laws to tax us because of this so called global issue. its bull *hit and they know it.
Mankind hasnt been pumping CO2 and methane and CFCs into the air for millenia though. Yes global warming is natural occuring but were making it worse, the government may be using it as an excuse to raise money but that doesnt mean it isnt real. But hey dont worry we’ll all be dead by the time it’s too late.
I absolutely adore the cynicism of the most recent conference of the “great & the good” – i.e. a bunch on nosepicking busybodies who aim to tell us all what to do (and increase our taxes for the privilege).
It seems that they have all “signed up for” halving CO2 emissions by the year 2050.
Yes you DID read that right – 2050 (as in twenty fifty).
What an enormous con that is. After all none of the buggers will be around in 2050 so they can stitch us all up now – claim the praise for being “green” – and when the entire target thingy goes tits up it won’t be THEIR fault will it???
