Well here we all are worrying ourselves silly about carbon emissions and saving the planet for the future of mankind.
Practically everything we do these days has been ruled ”bad” by the eco-Nazis, whether it is leaving a light on or a TV or computer on standby or (God forbid) driving around in a car of all things. Using ‘energy’ is the new mass murder it seems.
As I recall there is no law against any of the above and yet we now suffer the constant tut tuttings and stares of disapproval from the environmental lobbyists.
And yet how many of us will go out this weekend and celebrate Guy Fawkes night by letting off loads of fireworks??? (Setting fire to £10 notes might be cheaper BTW).
Just think of all the vast clouds of chemical gasses released into the atmosphere from even a small garden display, much less a larger professionally organised one. Does anybody REALLY care … or is the ‘concern’ for the environment all very well, as long as it doesn’t spoil YOUR fun???
Who has contributed to the long term destruction of our planet through global warming this weekend and if Guy Fawkes hadn’t tried to blow up Parliament, would the entire human race live just a little bit longer????

5 November, 2006 at 12:54 am #247402‘Fraid so ….. and it’s the sound of all the neighbours setting fire to the environment that pisses me off a bit. Thoughtless bstards – don’t they realise that they are dooming mankind to a horrible death as the glaciers melt and drown us all???
Still I suppose that some good comes of all this Guy Fawkes stuff. Little do they know that the effigy on the bonfire is symbolically that of the Pope and they are celebrating the burning of all those Catholic bstards all those years ago. That’ll teach ’em to try and blow up our Protestant Parliament.

You sure Uncle (Don) Luigi ain’t reading this PB? 8-[
Back on topic…
The orange area shows the summer ice melt in Greenland.
5 November, 2006 at 8:41 am #247404It’s not Uncle Luigi that’s the problem – it’s Don Franco who issues the ”orders”.
Look folks – all this stuff about burning the Pope and so on was a joke …. honestly it really was and I didn’t mean a word of it – not even one word (OK Don Franco???). There’s no need for the boys to pop over from Sicilly for a swift word or two, I’ll put it all right here and now.
So……..
Guy Fawkes, whose glorious life we celebrate today, was entirely right in his actions and was cruelly misunderstood by a Protestant Parliament. He was viciously tortured and summarily executed in flagrant breach of all of his Human Rights. Attempting to blow up the houses of Parliament was entirely justified in the light of the gross discrimination that was shown towards the one true Church of Rome. There can be no excuse for seizing lands and properties of good Catholic citizens whose only ”crime” was to show allegiance to the Holy Roman Emperor in preference to the Crown of England.
I now fully realise and understand that Protestantism flies in the face of the teachings of the one true (Roman Catholic) Church and that the Pope is its undisputed head.
(Phewwwww … that ought to do it.)

5 November, 2006 at 9:59 am #247406Poor old Guido Fawkes..the Gunpowder Plot fall-Guy. Okay..so on a technicality..he WAS guilty of attempting to blow up the Houses of Parliament. But only insofar as that as a soldier..he had aquired some mining expertise..and that it was he who was captured in the act. Bonfires were lit throughout London..to celebrate..but Guido held loyal to his fellow conspirators. The actual mover and shaker of the entire enterprise was Robert Catesby. We’ve been scorching the effigy of the wrong bloke for long and weary. November the fifth is really Bob Catesby Night..though to be fair..most ‘orrible little urchins these days haven’t even heard of Guy Fawkes..they think November is ‘Firework Through a Pensioner’s Letterbox’ month. :x
