I also believe that the age of consent should remain at 16. I have deliberated it over this thread. I also have children of various ages so have personal insight and experience too.
I also believe that in the UK we do generally “accept” that if 14-16’s are doing it among themselves that the law isn’t going to be going in heavy handed. I have always known that to be the set up, or my understanding of it, and I’m perfectly happy with that, as an individual, and as a parent.

Actually the law are going in heavy handed in this age of “catch the paedophile” after the various well documented scandals, Moose touched upon it and how the CPS are charging young people inappropriately to “boost” detection rates.

As much as I do like you GE – I’m sure whether or not I like you matters none to you btw – but I don’t think its necessary to be mean to Jamie.
Although I decided not to comment on this thread my curiosity got the better of me and although I wont engage on further comments relating to it, my friendship and love for Jamie has brought me back here to comment.
Although I do not wish to fall out with you GE – give her a break please.
Everyone is allowed to comment and have views without personal insults given directly to them.
She obviously doesn’t feel respected and you obviously don’t respect her but she is still an individual and a kind person who I don’t think deserves you to say such things.
Even if she got hold of the wrong end of the stick, still no reason to put her down.

We have the law and we have an unwritten moral law which isn’t seen as illegal…for instance a 16 yr old having sex with an old man might well be lawful but in my eyes the old man should know better and know its immoral
I’ve wanted to say a lot on this thread but in the end decided not to because it always turn into a competition of sorts

As for me keeping my beak out? Its on a public forum and I started the thread so if I want to tell people to stop making personal comments to others I will.
