Probably nobody even interested in his case against extradition to the USA, but I have been following the story closely.
The website regarding him is here.
What are your thoughts regarding this case, if interested.
3 August, 2008 at 11:38 am #359491Besides all the legalities, appeals and meetings, it’s about this……..
Quote – ” McKinnon has admitted taking advantage of lax security in US systems to install covert software that gave him control of settings and access to files. He was looking for evidence of UFOs. He has not admitted causing hundreds of thousands of dollars of damage, a claim at the heart of the US government’s allegations”.
If a crime has been committed IN this country, and this guy has admitted such, then surely trial and punishment should be carried out in the UK. The fact that he HASN’T been covertly arrested, interrogated by the CIA in a secret European detention centre, then dressed up in the latest orange fashions in Guantanomo tells me that the yanks see us as an ally and should accept our judicial arrangements, whatever treaty obligations exist.
another quote – “There is concern that it is easy for British citizens to be dragged into foreign courts, yet almost impossible to extradite people from other countries to face trial over here”.
Probably true but seems like a separate issue regarding the rights and wrongs of extradition arrangements.
3 August, 2008 at 12:29 pm #359492I am astonished that they haven’t offered him a job!
If he found it that easy to hack into their systems, he would be ideal to prevent other hackers. Stupid Americans obviously haven’t thought this through.
3 August, 2008 at 12:35 pm #359493perhaps, while he’s waiting, he could hack into hill’s computer and install an effective spell-check

I agree with this suggestion, makes more sense for them to employ the guy
to prevent this from happening again.serves them right for being so lax with their security in the first place.
did he ever find elvis?
3 August, 2008 at 1:16 pm #359497I would have thought MI5 would have snapped up a man of his talents.
3 August, 2008 at 4:22 pm #359498Dosent say if he found any evidence.
I presume he didnt or he would have been found in a back alley with a Bullet in his head.
