Yeah.
Was the invasion of Iraq any less illegal than the invasion of Poland by the Nazi’s during WW2?
A load of propoganda and scaremongering about Weapons of Mass Destruction and Iraq’s involvement with Al Queda. Both turned out to be untrue.Right or wrong, the US had no choice but to react to the abomination known as 9/11.
20 July, 2006 at 10:36 pm #230760i just wonder what the reactions (worldwide and in the USA) would have been if nothing had been done……. ??
makes you think doesnt it?
20 July, 2006 at 10:41 pm #230761A good point. Also, it often goes unconsidered what would have happened if Blair had wrecked the ‘special relationship’ by refusing to back the Americans up.
20 July, 2006 at 10:44 pm #230762all the “what if’s” and “if only’s” !!
its a shame there isnt a leader in this world at present even close to getting the acolade churchill receives
and if there was a WW3, we wouldnt all pull together like people did here in WW2 where everybody looked out for each other, it would be each to their own, and as there does not seem to be a thread anywhere on this board where people can agree, that for me is a very frightening prospect!!!! :? :?

Undoubtedly the US would have stopped sharing intelligence with the UK.
The problem states are Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan, Pakistan and Syria.
Now look at where our forces are massed, and note that India is ‘on side’. :wink:21 July, 2006 at 11:09 am #230764@American Woman wrote:

What did the world ever do to deserve George Bush?
Well Mr. Bigstuff – I don’t know about the world, but I don’t agree with letting terrorism flourish and turning your head so you “pretend” it’s not there and thriving. Something had to be done and it has. War is awful and nobody wants to see innocent people’s lives being destroyed. But, like I’ve said in previous posts, it’s not forever and in the end I’m certain we made the right decision going in.Iraq had nothing to do with al qaeda and nothing to do with september 11. So what are you talking about terrorism for? Saddam as a baathist was actually an enemy of islamic fundamentalists. Now, thanks to the ineptitude of Bush, Islamic extremism is out of control in Iraq and al qaeda have a new base of operations. Did the war in Iraq make anybody safer? No, it increased islamic extremism in the UK and around the world. While the world was focusing on Iraq, the US taskforce aimed at finding Bin Laden was disbanded.
21 July, 2006 at 11:23 am #230765I saw something the other day on a site that shocked me.
It had to do with Bin Laden’s wanted poster or something. It had a list of the terrorist deeds and atrocities the Binster was wanted in connection with. No mention of 9/11 was given. Someone in the FBI was asked why 9/11 wasnt mentioned, and the reply from the FBI was that no they had no concrete proof linking Bin Laden with 9/11. :shock:21 July, 2006 at 3:09 pm #230766@Mr Bigstuff wrote:

Now I have to believe that you are more informed than that. You have to be aware that Terrorism isn’t just in one country – right? I hate to have to tell you this, but it’s practically in every country. In my country as well as yours. Terrorism will not be wiped out just by riding it of one man (Bin Laden) or of his network.
Al Qaeda had nothing to do with 9/11???
If you believe that, then you’ll also believe that Santa Clause and his reindeer will be visiting you in about 5 months. :wink:21 July, 2006 at 3:13 pm #230767Please can you quote me anywhere on this thread where someone said “Al Queda had nothing to with 9/11”? :?

The Americans get hit by foreign terrorism for the first time ever and now they are all of a sudden experts! Thanks for the deep benefit of your obvious knowledge.
You’re welcome Magoo – Anything I can do to expand your knowledge is sheer pleasure on my part darling. xxx
Sorry Bad Manners, I misread your post. Please accept my apologies. But, I do stand by the fact that terrorism is everywhere.
