I like Wallace Stevens’s poetry – very much. His prose – where this comes from – is interesting to me only insofar as it gives us clues to his poetry. As he said in The Necessary Angel, he is not attempting any systematic argument, merely trying to point to truth in a different way. Which is what his poetry does.

Now when I quote writers, I do try to acknowledge the writer. Otherwise people will think it be me writing it.

I don’t want this to sound like some sort of Conspiracy theory, but there does seem to be more than what meets the eye, here.
I’d be honoured to be his friend as we share the same taste in poetry, but he sees me as a neanderthal love rival, and he isn’t feeling the Divine and most Gracious Love, yet. Do you feel it Rose?
And I lived in Archway, at almost certainly the same time as St Alfie.

Have you read Helen Vendler’s books on Stevens?
no, not a love rival at all. I steer clear of that, have done for many years.
But I do like debate and I like the fun in wordplay here.
Was hoping Mooosey might be fun, but who knows?
