innit Sarah
:D
but it has been a bit constant lately and, as Yoda has explained on another thread, knee-jerk advice to use the iggy button really doesn’t help at all.

It’s a pain but these are voluntary positions the Guides have, whatever time and effort they give to the position is their own, and I’m sorry but they dont owe the punters a damn thing. Chatters are there of their own violition either ignore the idiots or leave, but stop whining at the Chatguides, they’re volunteers not police
The guide who was asked to respond did their best and was thanked accordingly. But if someone wants to spend their entire evening logging back in immediately, cloning and constantly scrolling then there’s probably not a lot that can be done. This has been going on for sometime and mentioning it on the boards, in context, may even help.
I won’t thank you for the patronising advice as to how I or other regs should act. You weren’t there and we might even have a faint idea already. And it’s not whining involved, or even necessarily criticism of the site, just my opinion which I’ll repeat –
lots are getting fed up at the inability of the guides to deal with it.
.
Wasnt patronising, and if you’re so anti the scrollers stop whining and put your fucking name down to be a guide . Dont get superior with me because you go into chat ? Iv’e been in chat and i’ve been a guide, try sitting in MSN with people messaging you to come and deal with so and so. Why should the guides be told how often and how long they should be in the rooms. They volunteer and it’s their time, if you’re so good at dealing with shit apply
4 July, 2009 at 6:47 pm #393716As far as i was aware you cant instantly log back in with the same I.P. address if thats not the case then is the facility available to be added to the boards to prevent idiots logging straight back in.
5 July, 2009 at 10:59 am #393717So those who didn’t agree with all-night spamming should become guides, you impolitely dictate, but then of course there wouldn’t be any chatters to guide. And exactly where have I told admin how to do their jobs ? You silly sausage.
If the prerequisites of a Guide were to be absent, miscontrue the problem, give totally impractical advice, and follow with an inconsequential rant . . . . . then you must have been a superb one.
:O)
6 July, 2009 at 6:06 pm #393718“I go in chat theres a problem i cant be arsed to do anything about it so i’ll complain that the guides are useless and more (but not me) should join and voluntarily sit up all night so my fun isnt spoilt.”
Hell of an attitude. Some guides probably aint that good at their job but they all do it voluntarily.
I was a good guide as far as i’m concerned… anyone with an unsuitable name was booted any trouble maker was also booted. Whats needed is some way of keeping them out once they’ve been ejected. As PB says if everyone used iggy the scroller isnt gonna know (at least not straight away)
7 July, 2009 at 8:03 am #393719Use the iggy????  Good grief pete are you mad?? If they do that they’ll miss all the fun. The plain simple fact is that however much they ALL moan about the bad guys, none of them will use the ignore function because they are too bloody nosey. They cannot bear to miss anything.
As soon as the Guide comes in they moan and whinge and beg the Guide to remove the bad guy because he was being nasty, but if you look back on the room history, you’ll see they were all hurling just as much abuse back, making them just as bad.
Ironically if they didn’t have the iggy function they would moan about that too. They are probably the sort of users who write letters of complaint every week to the loacl rag about the evils of society. Maybe they should start up a web site called “moaners R us”. You could imagine the message boards couldn’t you? They’d be in heaven. Page upon page of whinge whinge whinge. As soon as it opened there would be a stampeed to get there and see who could post the most moans. The place would probably crash within the first hour.
7 July, 2009 at 8:52 am #393720Ah Bat – you’ve given me an idea. How about a “Moaners” room in one of the Forums?
They could all go in there whenever the mood takes them (all the time) and moan at each other endlessly about how they were booted “for no reason”; or how they were “just defending themselves and their kids” when they got booted for typing in a tirade of abuse.
Then there are those who want to moan that their moans have been ignored. They could go into the Moaners room and moan on endlessly whilst all the others ignore them as well.
Best of all, it wouldn’t require any moderation from ChatGuides as they’d all be so busy moaning on and on that they’d not have time to cause any problems.
Of course we’d have to disable the ‘iggy button’ ……….. er …. no …. on second thoughts there’s no need – the moaners don’t use it anyway.

I don’t believe that there is anything site admin can do to help.
Taking into account recent posts I’d say that fact is now well established.
Which is a shame really, given that there is a group of experienced, responsible and positive JC members in Forum 3 who pretty much regulate rooms themselves without help, who welcome and encourage newcomers to chat, who know exactly when (and when not) to use the ignore facility, and who very rarely, will request politely the services of an available guide if necessary and then have the grace to thank them afterwards.
A cursory look at the transcripts of the Quiz Room from 9.30pm onwards last Friday July 3rd , and at the failed results there of Chatguide action, would reveal the basic problem on that particular night out of many, and this has since been referred to, explained and detailed by at least five different posters since by my reckoning, on this and the Jadey thread.
I can only presume that the readiness of admin personnel to deride any comments as ‘moaning’, to offer useless advice, and to spout off on nonsensical tangents is because they actually have no idea as to how to help with this particular problem of one unbootable, cloning, abusive scroller, who spoils the enjoyment for so many.
.
8 July, 2009 at 6:37 am #393722I think actually the situation hasnt really been explained properly, of course we know how to use the iggy button, of course we know not to react to the scroller, just in this case non of the above were possible as it kept happening so quickly, shortly after the questions were asked, so (a) its not possible to get a guide that quickly and (b) its not possible to use the iggy button as the scroller comes in in different names and scrolls so quickly makes it impossible to carry on.
What is being said here is it is very difficult to find help quickly, i.e a chat guide. i do know guides give their time voluntary and for the most part do a good job too, but, it would be useful maybe for a small message in all the rooms if guides are off duty or very thin on the ground, to read ‘if you need a guide there is one in room……etc, or, have on guide on ‘call’ if that makes sense?
In an ideal world , it would be great if a guide could be in the room on quiz nights, but I know this isnt always possible. does Just Chat actually have enough guides?
I realise that JC has to have a certain calibre of people for guides but there are a lot of chatters who would make very good guides.
