The rotweiller story is absolutely ridiculous, they refer to the breed as savage, any dog can be trained to kill, these dogs make great family pets and it is only human interferance yet again that turns them into savage animals, how ignorant.

 Well you said dogs hunted by instinct, the reason they don’t anymore is because dogs arent allowed to roam are they.
Get yourself up to Benwell , Scotswood road areas of Newcastle – then you will see if dogs aren’t roaming free in packs
There again – go down the Bigg market – Friday . Saturday night – loads of dogs there !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LMAO!! now now!!
24 July, 2006 at 12:49 pm #231930^^^ what she said, and also if a dog gets an infection or has a tumour thats not detectable then the cute cuddly family pet can suddenly turn. Plenty of stories out there that say how family pets suddenly attack because of something thats gone undetected. Even family pets that have no track record can suddenly turn on a small child.

Very true Tg – see you can talk sense when you put your mind to it and shut off the PMT .
Young kids who aer at eye level with the dogs are especially at risk – even as you say -if the dog is a family pet without any history of attacks
Dogs naturally even when playing shake it’s prey quite violently – and although they start off playing it can soon lead to serious injuries
Young kids should never ever be left alone with the family dog – or a fox come to think of it

ignorant !!!! TRY telling that to the couple that had to bury their daughter with a face veil on as she had no face !! her crime ? walking passed a pair of “family” pets.
Yet again you totally brush past my point, the statement reffered to a particular breed of dog being savage, not one dog in particular but a whole race, thats ignorant. Yes its very sad and sickening that a child should be killed I agree.

The statement reffered to a whole breed of dog being savage, a whole race being the same which is ignorant, agreed animals can have illnesses etc but surely thats not restricted to one particular breed?
24 July, 2006 at 5:42 pm #231934I was carrying on from what she said not what you said.
24 July, 2006 at 8:56 pm #231935Again – another thread taken over by liberal attitudes
Have none of you ever seen big cats stalking and chasing their prey – bringing it down – snapping it’s neck then severing it’s neck
It’s nature it happens
You’re all thinking of a fox as a cuddly little Basil Brush puppet
Foxes cause all sorts of serious damage – look at what’s left of a hen coop after a fox has ravaged it
You might think differently if a fox attacks the family pet
Theres nothing wrong with the hunt – it’s a great tradition – it keeps thousands in employ
As usual it is 95% of “townies” that are against hunting – people who wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between a fox and a red squirrel !!!
I have lived and worked in the countryside, alongside people who are pro hunting.
My grandparents were anti-hunting, although they were staunch Conservatives in a rural area where many of their friends hunted. My grandfather was indeed a Tory councillor.! My mother was also vehemently opposed to hunting and she was also a died-in-the-wool Conservative.I agree foxes are not nice, cuddly animals and I have no objection to their numbers being controlled humanely. More pets have probably been killed by hunts than by foxes. But foxhunting is not humane and whatever the pro- lobby might say, it is not really concerned with controlling fox numbers and cannot be a very effective way of doing so.
I have worked as a livestock lorry driver and I have seen first-hand the gratuitous cruelty that is perpetrated by a minority of farmers, farm workers, drivers and market drovers. These attitudes are the same as those found in those who worked in the hunt industery.
25 July, 2006 at 4:24 am #231936:lol: Rubyred!! I think enough people have given their opinion on fox hunting now! :P
25 July, 2006 at 9:00 am #231937Against, definately. No excuse nor reason. If Foxes need controlling, then it’s better done by professionals than toffs in fancy dress poncing about the countryside.
