Yeah, I agree Holistic. It is difficult to justify one and not t’other. I eat meat but, then again, I couldn’t give a toss about foxes either. Hope this helps. :D

Yeah thanks pikey I dont mind people who eat meat or people who kill animals thats a choice but I mind people who use one set of rules for one thing and another for everything else, as with most things in life we change the rules to suit ourselves.

The difference between a lion chasing its prey and catching it, is that a Lion has to do that to survive. A hunting dog does not have to chase a fox and rip it to pieces in order to survive. The dog is trained, the only animal acting on pure instinct is the Lion. I don’t like the damage foxes do either but in the 21st century you would have thought someone could come up with a far better solution don’t you?!!
Not at all TG – it’s perfectly natural for dogs to hunt in packs – they ARE acting on instinct . If dogs are let loose they will eventually form packs and hunt – its nature
So whats wrong with old fashined solutions – like hunting
It keeps people employed – keeps the fox population down and gives the country gentlefolk an enjoyable day out

23 July, 2006 at 7:44 pm #231922Drivel makes a lot of sense. It’s natural for dogs to hunt in packs, so let’s bring back bull-baiting and bear-baiting. While we’re at it, why don’t we bring back the roman circuses where wild animals were set on people. It was popular entertainment and a fun day out for all the family. Kept a lot of people in jobs too. It’s a lion’s natural instinct to hunt other creatures, so what’s wrong with letting a lion feed on the odd person now and then. It kept the prison population down as well.
23 July, 2006 at 7:54 pm #231923:roll: And there was I thinking we were civilised, hey lets sack all the dog wardens and let stray dogs hunt in packs again like they used to and attack anyone and anything they need to so that they don’t go hungry. :D

Now you’re just being a tad too silly TG
24 July, 2006 at 9:42 am #231926:lol: Well you said dogs hunted by instinct, the reason they don’t anymore is because dogs arent allowed to roam are they. Instinct it maybe, but the whole point seems to have been lost somehow. All jo asked was for opinions on fox hunting, i think most people hate the idea of an animal being hunted on horseback, and by dogs. But I’m sure its got to do with who hunts them as well. It’s not just *hooray henry* types that joined in hunts these days anyway.

Get yourself up to Benwell , Scotswood road areas of Newcastle – then you will see if dogs aren’t roaming free in packs
There again – go down the Bigg market – Friday . Saturday night – loads of dogs there !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
