It’s a shame the fox numbers and their health has been so badly effected so quickly by the ban, and indeed the increased spread of disease amongst themselves and our domestic pets. I didnt think it would happen quite so quickly as it has. But inevitable nonetheless. It a slippery slope now. The foxes are still being hunted and shot, more often wounded than killed and left to die in agony, and without the natural removing the infirm and weak but the fit and healthy, its kinda sad.

I’m all for fox hunting as a means of controling the fox population in the countryside they can be very destructive not to mention carry all kinds of nasty diseases.

By all means chase the fox as a means of entertainment. Any decent huntmaster will run his hunt with the greatest of respect but if foxy goes to ground then he’s escaped fair & square. Leave him be.

To send the terriers down after him is not only cruel but also sick.

there was an article in our local paper recently about a couple of youths who had set there dogs on a fox and killed it they were taken to court and done for cruelty how is this different from foxhunting? in my eyes it isnt. also a hunt does not kill enough foxes to keep the population down there are more killed on the roads every year fact.

Why do foxes need controlling ffs it’s complete bollocks

I have only ever been drag hunting, but having done that I do understand the thrill of a hunt. Hounds are trained to follow the scent, and kill the fox, I think like sarah, if a fox goes to ground then the fox outwitted the hunt, and to send terriers in after them is cruel.

I honestly think hunting (when done with respect to the fox, and country side) is a good way of removing the sick, or elderly foxes in a fairly natural way. Gassing, and shooting (unless you`re a crack shot) is not definite, and death can take several days of agony…. a pack of hounds is certain and quick.

I have to disagree, dont hunt them, dont shoot them, dont gas them, leave them alone

putting dogs down a hole is def illegal and no hunt would do that these days
to work with in the confines of the law
    hounds are exercised these days
and if they come across a fox the hunt master calls the dogs off
but dogs being dogs dont always obey
and the poor lil fox cops it
some hunts now take an eagle with them and when they spot a fox they send in the eagle
    which is legal

    tally ho fellow jc ers
