Happy Independence Day to our American friends… :)

    THE HANDS THAT BUILT AMERICA

    Oh my love
    It’s a long way we’ve come
    From the freckled hills
To the steel and glass canyons
    From the stony fields
    To hanging steel from skies
    From diggin’ in our pockets
For a reason not to say goodbye

These are the hands that build America
    America

    Last saw your face
    In a watercolored sky
    As sea birds argue
    A long goodbye
    I took your kiss
On the spray of the new lined star
You gotta live in your dreams
    Don’t make them so hard

And these are the hands that built America
    America

    Of all of the promises
Is this one we can keep?
    Of all of the dreams
Is this one still out of reach?

    Its early fall
There’s a cloud on the New York skyline
Innocence dragged across a yellow line

These are the hands that built America
These are the hands that built America

Ohhhhh Sgt. that was so sweet of you to remember us. ( Said in her most sweetest Southern drawl) You are such a thoughtful man in many ways and a great friend.

Sending my best wishes out as well on this day.

    AMERICAN TUNE

Many’s the time I’ve been mistaken
    And many times confused
Yes and I’ve often felt forsaken
    And certainly misused
Oh, but I’m alright, I’m alright
I’m just weary to my bones
Still, you don’t expect to be
    Bright and bon vivant
So far away from home, so far away from home

And I don’t know a soul who’s not been battered
I don’t have a friend who feels at ease
    I don’t know a dream that’s not been shattered
    Or driven to its knees
Oh, but it’s alright, it’s alright
For we’ve lived so well so long
Still, when I think of the
    Road we’re traveling on
    I wonder what’s gone wrong
I can’t help but wonder what’s gone wrong

And I dreamed I was dying
I dreamed that my soul rose unexpectedly
And looking back down at me
    Smiled reassuringly
And I dreamed I was flying
And high up above my eyes could clearly see
    The Statue of Liberty
    Sailing away to sea
And I dreamed I was flying

Oh we come on the ship they call the Mayflower
We come on the ship that sailed the moon
We come in the age’s most uncertain hours
    And sing an American tune
Oh, and it’s alright, it’s alright, it’s alright
    You can’t be forever blessed
Still, tomorrow’s going to be another working day
And I’m trying to get some rest
That’s all I’m trying to get some rest

We should have a UK day – 22nd July, to commemorate the Treaty of Union between England and Scotland on that day in 1706 – the birth of the United Kingdom, when our island became one nation for the first time.
