All Christians are “punished” by being forbidden to take their Bible on holiday with them to Saudi Arabia.

    Except they are not banned

Forbidden and banned are two different things.

To ban needs juridic and official endorsement.

To forbid needs nothing. My dad forbade me from smoking. Smoking isn’t banned.

Tommy was arrested for breach of the peace, filming outside the courthouse and talking to camera , he was on a suspended sentence because he travelled to the USA without a visa. As he was on a suspended sentence he was arrested and thrown in jail within 36 hours and a court order banned media coverage . Why ?  He has stated over and over he does not hate Muslims … he has many Muslim friends a lot of tem have been on camera with him many times What he hates is the ideology behind it. I think most sensible people realise ancient ‘rules / laws ‘ have little relevance in 2018, for example Scep is a believer in God yet he doesn’t take the bible word for word ( personally I think its a crock ) but hey, they are his opinions. Ge I don’t get how you can praise tommy for standing behind his beliefs and being open and honest about them and then wish him dead in jail.  He didn’t wreck any trial, the BBC had released the names before the trial.  Surely the word here is ‘ extremism’ on both sides. I also, like many many people who aren’t far left, am getting pished off with everyone being labelled a racist for holding different opinions. Inciting hatred towards any ‘group’ gays, muslims, Christians, Man U supporters, vegans , is wrong, but having free speech will always offend someone, its just a matter of how one  takes  that offence. And no Alfie, I’m not responding to a trolling thread as I don’t think it is, just a debate :bye:

    Ge

More irrelevant Alfieisms. It is not “forbidden” to carry a personal bible in Saudi Arabia as the Foreign Office advice states, nor does it “punish” all Chrisitans as it is clearly a false statement, a blatant lie.

Ge I don’t get how you can praise tommy for standing behind his beliefs and being open and honest about them and then wish him dead in jail.

He broke the terms of his suspended sentence, the blank ban forbidding filming and  he jeopardised the trial of  men not yet convicted of any crime and potentially cost the tax payer hundreds of thousands of pounds in the process. ” I have got Muslim friends” no he hasn’t got any Muslim friends and he is despised in the Muslim community, despised in prison and I hope he gets what is coming to him and gets it during his 13 months in prison

Freedom of speech, yes I agree and that is my opinion and I don’t break British law airing it.

Secondly my point was to that Dan thing. Love or loathe Tommy Robisnson and I loathe him, at least he has the kahonies to get out there and put his freedom on the line, unlike JC keyboard warriors who support his ideology and do zero diddly squat about it. If anyone is protecting freedom of speech here, it is me.

According to wikipedia’s page on Freedom of Religion in Saudi Arabia,

Religious freedom is virtually non-existent. The Government does not provide legal recognition or protection for freedom of religion, and it is severely restricted in practice. As a matter of policy, the Government guarantees and protects the right to private worship for all, including non-Muslims who gather in homes for religious practice; however, this right is not always respected in practice and is not defined in law.

Banned or forbidden, either way, I’m not taking my Bible with me.

Inciting hatred towards any ‘group’ gays,

Not a single time have you intervened (or anyone else) when I have been subjected to constant homophobic abuse on this site, not a single time. Like those on the right you are obviously only concerned when those on the left like me, air my views.

Stick that in your ‘freedom of speech’ pipe.

    And there’s more,

The Saudi Mutaween (Arabic: مطوعين‎), or Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice (i.e., the religious police) enforces the prohibition on the public practice of non-Muslim religions. Sharia applies to all people inside Saudi Arabia, regardless of religion.

I don’t suppose the British Government is in any rush to publish this on the link Ge provided.

Question the reliability and credibility of wikipedia all you like. We can go in and amend anything we believe to be wrong. You can’t do that on .gov.uk

The .gov.uk foreign travel advise page is aimed at muslims. I don’t have a figure, but I will stick my neck on the line and say 90% of Brits travelling to Saudi Arabia are muslims, what with Hajj and all that. Maybe even as high as 98 or 99%. Just a specualtion.

You can google away on “wikiepedia” to your hearts content Alfie, twisting and turning and moving the goal posts like you usually do when you have been found out but the truth is you are ignorant regarding Saudi Arabia and can not provide any evidence that the large Christian community, including a large migrant work force, is banned from carrying a bible and “punished” collectively merely for being Christian as you originally stated.

I suggest you research this more, try you tube, he does have Muslim  friends and supporters , I don’t actually get why you would say he hasn’t when its been so public ?  yet your retort doesn’t address the extremism or the fact people expressing their personal views without inciting hatred are not automatically a white supremacist ?  He may have broken a ban, in some form, it wasn’t news breaking  the news had already been broken by the BBC  did the judge say ” oh he’s trouble”  more likely a government directive   SHUT THIS GUY UP !  He was making a phone video on the steps of a courthouse, many camera crews were also filming, because he has a blog about the ‘idealism’ of Islam it means he gets locked up for a year ? And as you wished, probably won’t make it ?

Disagreeing with the ‘ideology ‘ of Islam does not make you a Muslim hater, as such as disagreeing with the catholic church doesn’t make you hate all catholics, if it did the planet would be in a worse state than it is already. Brandishing labels on people is Dangerous !   I could do it all the time ”  the old fella touched me bum ”  PERVERT !!  NO    an 82 year old trying to be funny ….  You can’t read 1 sentence in a paragraph and just decide its racist, its dangerous and brings shit where its not necessary
