I am rather disturbed by this new outbreak of foot n mouth, the poor farmers and there livelyhoods going down the pan as no animals can be transported for another month now, and even more upsetting is now i have to wait another month to get laid!

If they won’t bring the cows to you becaues of F & M, then you could always pop up to Liverpool for a dirty weekend …. there’s plenty of cows up there.

Its in the treads of the tyers, its everywhere. Yep they spray the carcuss before the long (unnecessary) journey, but all the mud that spatters off the wheels spreads it too. You cannot get every spore of it off of a transport truck.

Is this latest cull going to Liverpool or something, or is PB just ranting again?

I know that DEFRA always contrive to appear to be one sandwich short of a picnic, but don’t you think that it would be pretty stupid (even by their standards) to thoroughly spray the carcasses of culled infected cattle, ensure that all vehicles and people entering and leaving an infected farm site pass through disinfectant baths (including their tyres etc) …. and yet they ”forget” to disinfect the tyres etc of a lorry full of carcasses???

These lorries are thoroughly sprayed with F&M virus killing disinfectant and all bio-security precautions are fully enforced.

This nonsense about a trail of F&M virus spread over the country by lorry loads of carcasses is the sort of illogical mindless scare encouraged by the Sun (and similar) trash tabloids to prey on the collective ingnorance of its readership.

You seen the state of the wheels lol!!!! And as it would seem to be an invisable virus its simple to spread.

They were far to quick to declare England a disease free zone.

All the precautions they are taking completely ignore FMD possibly being spread by wildlife – not much can be done about that. As I say deer can catch FMD and pass it on and they roam the countryside. Birds can’t catch it but they can carry the virus on their bodies.

You can disinfect as many wellies and lorries as you like, you can close all the footpaths you like, but that’s a bit like putting an extra bolt on your front door to stop wasps coming in your house and then leaving all the windows open.
