You have to laugh dont you. There are TWO labs… one government one private. Both been manufacturing the vaccine. If the leak came from the private one this would have been declared in the report and gordon blair (sorry… cant help it) would have been beaming his ugly face all over the place.
The leak has got to have come from the public lab as they are saying its just “likely” to have come from the building.
Pull the other one…………. it plays Kinky Boots :P
Seeing grown men from the farming community in tears on tv and speaking to them on the net, its all just a bloody mess. Not all farmers have animals for meat, they are dairy farmers to, and they CARE for them. Plus the fact they are losing SO much money.
This government will be the death of this country.
8 August, 2007 at 1:20 pm #281313We’ve already heard hysterical cries from some farmers to close all public footpaths.
Like, I mean, does that mean they should be closed to wildlife as well as humans?
Now that an allotment is suspected of being involved, should all allotments be closed LOL?
Does the national press know that the lorries laden with FMD carcasses need to drive along a track across a livestock farm to get to the incinerator in Somerset, about 100 miles from the outbreak?
The added irony is that the cattle might have been infected with a mild form of FMD used in the vaccine, so in effect they might have been vaccinated by the infection rather than by syringe, and might have made a full recovery if theyb weren’t slaughtered?
(Vaccinate comes from Latin ‘vacca’ = a cow. Cowpox virus was used in the experimnets to immunise humans against smallpox – that’s where the term originated.)
13 September, 2007 at 12:41 am #281314quoteWhy did they transport the culled bodies across country to be incinerated? The infection will be on the truck and spread to other places. I know they have to Disinfect, but that wont get every spore off of a huge truck. Its the worst decision DEFRA could have made, and after the quick thinking farmer acted responsibly and quickly again the government/clowns go and ruin everything! /quote
When did I say that?
You know when you really wanna say told you so. But then again what would I know…
Im just a working class mum with half a brain (im being generous there)
How much do Defra experts get paid :?:
Defra are as good as a teabag in the fecking dessart.
13 September, 2007 at 10:32 am #281315This is all very well isn’t it. everybody getting excited about what strain of foot & mouth it was, who was responsible; poor old farmers and so on.
Who ever gives a damn about the poor old cows??
I mean, there they are strolling around in their meadows chomping grass, chewing the cud and farting enormous quantities of greenhouse gasses into the environment when along comes a mad butcher from DEFRA …. and suddenly …. BANG !!! no more cow.
I think that the people of Liverpool should queue up to sign a Book of Condolence for all cows.
13 September, 2007 at 10:55 am #281316you really dont like scousers do you PB

I’ve been vomiting my guts up for the past 3 days. I’ve given up drinking and I don’t take drugs anymore.. I won’t even touch painkillers. I’ve grown out of all that. So that rules out the reasons for vomiting.
But.. I have had burgers.
So… that’s kinda worrying.
dont worry mate its propably mad cow disease in your case he he he he.

Actually the ones I do know are really nice people.
I guess I dislike mass hysteria and it always seems to be the people of Liverpool (in general of course) who rush out onto the streets to protest or worse still to publicly mourn, and open books of condolence on every possible occasion.
I still can’t forget the sight of the enormous crowds lining the streets for the funeral of the murdered little Liverpool boy crying and weeping with remorse …. and yet his killer has STILL not been named by the community in which he lives.
So back to the plot ….. what about the cows then????? There must be loads of fat cows in Liverpool who feel some sympathy for the culled ones.
13 September, 2007 at 1:18 pm #281319Is this latest case in Egham close to the route taken by some the lorries that transorted culled carcasses all the way to Somerset for incineration?
Again, nobody has mentioned deer yet on the news. Deer can catch and transmit FMD and yet they roam over large areas. Deer seem to be the ‘elephant in the kitchen’, or the ‘John Deere ploughing tractor on the bowling green’, as it were, in this FMD outbreak.

No it isn’t on any sort of direct route. also when carcasses of culled cattle are loaded onto lorries they are liberally doused in strong disinfectant which kills off the F & M spores etc.
Even DEFRA wouldn’t be THAT stupid.
Whilst deer may be ‘carriers’ the nearest deer park to the latest outbreak is Windsor Great Park and the deer do not and cannot escape to roam freely around the towns and villages of Surrey (‘cos they’d be shot and eaten  ).
Equally there are no deer parks anywhere near the previous outbreak.
Nice theory – but a bit of a red herring (or red deer) if i may say so.
13 September, 2007 at 2:27 pm #281321I am rather disturbed by this new outbreak of foot n mouth, the poor farmers and there livelyhoods going down the pan as no animals can be transported for another month now, and even more upsetting is now i have to wait another month to get laid!
