My friends Husband has had this done as his kneecaps were shattered years ago. Now he has had one, he is adamant he wont have the other one done, and still feels unsure as to what (if any) difference it has made. The recovery time was horrendous.

Everybody is different though, so fingers crossed it all goes well hun x

pmsl!! My friend also had to wait for his op after being told he was too young. He manages fine on the leg with no knee cap in, even better than the other leg that he had the replacement put in. He has also just had a hop replacement, and that gave him a horrid infection for three weeks. He hasnt had much luck recently bless him!

saw this thread earlier mary j. mr pats fooked his knee up yrs ago. hes ad 2 ops to remove bone fragments an physio. surgeon told him after a yr it was a waste of time him keep attending his clinic as only thing they cud do was replace his knee wif a plastic one an he was too young as u only get one shot at knee replacements and worst scenario was if it went wrong he cud lose his lower leg  he just teks painkillers now and if it gets real bad he has to go to casualty and ave excess fluid drained from his knee. this to a bloke who played footy an squash 3 times a week dint go down well but its something he has had to learn to live wif. its vey rare u will find anyone one under 50 gettin hip or knee replacements cos its a one off thing.

i remember the dr sayin..if u have a needle phobia how cum ur arms covered in tatoos?………..mr pats growled….i was fookin drunk when they was dun……..at which point i left the room an let em get on wif it lol. but seriously he as a 4 inch scar on the top of his arm were he was given a vaccination as a child….the needle snapped in his arm and they had to cut it open to get the point out. stems from that.
